@AmeliaRayno: Bo Ryan just named Gasser the Badgers' PG. RT @JimPolzinWSJ Josh Gasser out for the season with a torn ACL. Story coming shortly.

@BTNBrentYarina: From #Badgers: Josh Gasser tears ACL, out for season. BIG loss.

Wow... This is a huggggeee loss for the Badgers. Especially with Bruesewitz out for the first month of the season too. I hope he has a good recovery and comes back strong next year. Wisconsin is 1 injury/suspension away from being screwed over big time this season.

It's a big loss for sure. The fact that they didn't think enough of Marshall to have him start over Gasser in the first place is an indication that Marshall just isn't on the same level at this point, so you're taking a step back by turning to Marshall and losing Gasser. I felt this team was going to challenge for the title of Bo's best at UW, but now I doubt that will be the case.

Tough break for Gasser and the Badgers. Badger boards were talking up Marshall so he may be able to handle the point. If Marshall gets into foul trouble or gets hurt or needs a break it is a problem. Traevon Jackson may be the backup. Have read very few comments about him.

Aside: Uthoff controversy water under the bridge and nice contribution $41K to cancer research by the Grinch.

Marshall is probably not going to be much of a scorer - his role will be to handle the ball, distribute and defend. The Wisconsin offense may struggle with a low-scoring player replacing their leading scorer and go-to guy at PG. It's not a stretch to suggest that they will take a 10 ppg hit at PG going from Taylor to Marshall. They will likely struggle to score efficiently early on, but you know Bo's teams typically improve significantly as the year wears on. I saw Jackson play in high school, his jumpshot was ugly but he had the frame and athletic ability to be a tough defender and good rebounder.

I'm feeling pretty confident about a Wisconsin sweep this year, assuming we can stay healthy. *knocks on wood

NBD. Need I remind everyone that George Marshall is the greatest redshirt freshman/practice squad player in the history of college basketball?
