Here are some quotes from the post-game presser. These are not verbatim.

Tracy Claeys
We weren’t playing downhill enough. It’s hard to stop people on the short field. Felt with the two turnovers, we just needed to get into the locker room at half. We got too much separation in the first half and couldn’t get back into it in the second half.

Win and loss-wise it’s a step back but we have some good kids. Not going to fault the effort. We had a lot of kids get injured for multiple games but that’s not an excuse.

Those kids busted their ass out there. Our kids didn’t quit and our seniors deserved that effort. No way those kids are disappointed in each other. Proud as hell of this team, with the schedule they had. I know we need to win more games.

I told them they are a hell of a lot better than they played in the first half. That’s what I told them at half. I think we started to feel a little sorry for ourselves. We needed to regroup at half and we did. They gave us all they had for the second half.

Offense struggled against a good defense. We need to make a few more plays. We had to throw the ball a lot quicker than we wanted to. They controlled the line of scrimmage.

We did our best and battled. We played our hardest for our seniors. Disappointment, no. I’m looking forward to next year.

It was great to have Coach Kill there. He brings energy and pumps the team up a lot. I’m sure he’s proud of the way we played.

I think we played pretty well against their defense, aside from the turnovers. We drove the ball pretty well.

Mitch Leidner
We set goals and expectations. We had high goals and we didn’t meet those goals. Have to be happy we got the play with this senior class. We had a good time a long the way.

They were a tough defense. It was tough moving the football at times. They capitalized on turnovers. Was proud the way the offense battled. I never felt out of the fight.

On the fumble: I had the ball up high and tight. As I went down, it got it a little away from my body and he was able to get in out. Good play by him.

Overall, the way were protecting was the right idea, but at times, a guy would slip through and get in my face and cause me to make a hurried throw or an inaccurate throw. They did a good job getting pressure.

On next year: The sky is the limit. It’s all a mindset. We have the talent. It’s about how we can push this offseason. It’s a big thing that comes from a leadership position, that I am with some others guys. Have to see how much fight this team has.
