This will be released today, no?

Hoping for another 2:30pm game. I believe the B1G has stated that they're trying to avoid 11am local kickoffs, and at one point I heard something about avoiding 6pm November kickoffs. Anyone have information to refute this?

Should be announced sometime today unless we're part of the "flex game" decision where ABC/ESPN determine which game to make an 11am on ESPN and which to make a 2:30 on ABC. And something tells me the matchup isn't good enough to be a flex pick.

Looks like more silliness from the networks:

ABC waiting for Saturday's results to choose Nov. 12 games, so game time & network for Battle for the Axe won't be announced till next week.

2:30 games are bunk. gimme 11:00 but I like it that way cause that is what I grew up with.
I can fully understand how a later game is better for most fans, BTN and exposure.

2:30 on ABC. Get the axe back on national TV.

A man can dream.

Correct. This is brutal for those of us who like to tailgate.

If been going to games since the 70's and 11:00 AM starts are B.S. No game should start before Noon. The standard use to be 1:00. 2:30 is even better!

A 2:30 game on ABC is not on national TV. It is on regional TV. Whereas 11am on ESPN would be on National TV. It surprises me how many people still think the 2:30 ABC slot is a national TV game. It is one of 3-5 games being shown throughout the corresponding regions of the country.

The people like 2:30 kickoffs. The Big Ten added millions in value when they got out of whatever horrible contract turned 11:00 AM into the default kick-off time.

I am mistaken, you are correct. 2:30 is still better.

I think it's because I, like many others, think of it like the NFL, where the late afternoon games are usually national games.

I think it is bunk that they are waiting until 5 days before the game to announce the start time. It would be nice to attempt to plan out my Saturday more than 5 days in advance. I know the options are essentially 11 or 2:30, so it should not be that difficult to plan, but still...

If I am not mistaken, the 2:30 game is national. It is always mirrored on ESPN in regions that don't get the ABC game, per the Big Ten's contract with ESPN/ABC.

Right is is mirrored, however there are times when there are up to 5 regional games being broadcast in the 2:30 spot (That is rare, most of the time it is 4). If my memory serves me right, the BT does not have the exclusive mirror rights for the other regions, meaning the BT game is not necessarily on ESPN or ESPN2 in Big East, ACC, SEC, Big 12 AND PAC-12 markets. So, my thought is the game is mirrored, but not mirrored to ALL markets.

In addition, my point was that the ABC broadcast is not National.

Actually the BT game is mirrored in all markets. The BT game is available everywhere on either ABC or ESPN/2. The other games are not necessarily available. How the BT got this in the deal and the ACC/Big 12/Pac 10 did not, I'm not sure. That said, it isn't really the same as being 'on national television' on one channel.

Well, I can tell you why the Pac-10 didn't have it...the idiot commish they had turned down the offer to mirror. The new guy they have now heard that when he took over and blew up at the stupidity of it.

Agreed. We have about 15 people set up for tailgating but about 1/2 of them will be coming in the day of the game. An 11am kickoff puts a serious damper on the festivities...and waiting until 5 days out sucks for planning.

That's the situation I'm in too. We have a group that could range from 12-20. The 12 have tickets, the other 6 are friends who live in the Cities who would likely come if it was a 2:30 kick since that means they could arrive at 10 instead of 7 and still have fun.

11:00 a.m. is way too early. I'm always rushed and never can get the right booze-food mix in me. I love 2:30 starts. Absolutely perfect time to start a football game.

I know how much fun we've been having with these later kicks when I suddenly realize it's time to start tearing down but if doesn't feel like we've been there for very long. Just a perfect tailgating year thus far.
