Wow. After watching 2 minutes of the Student U rebroadcast I had to turn it off.

Apparently the BTN thought it would be a good idea to hire Jerry Lundegaard to do the play-by-play. F'ing brutal.
 


Could have been a whole lot worse. Definite upgrade from last year's Student U
 

The main reason Nelson has improved on his PBP this year is because he is actually working with someone competent as a color guy this year in Travis Busch. Last year the color people he was paired with would literally say almost nothing the entire time and there was no flow to the broadcast. Busch knows when to speak during the flow of the game, and as a result, Nelson can just focus on the PBP and not worry about trying to be a color guy also. The result is a much more listenable product. Matt's voice is still high and somewhat squeaky, but I appreciate the information both have brought to the table. They definitely both know the team really well.
 

Not a big fan of Captain Obvious either, but at least we get to see the game.
 


I didn't have a problem with Busch. But maybe he sounded better by comparison.

The 1950's style delivery was awful. And the accent made Jim Dutcher sound like Dan Rather. It's better that this kid learns how not to suck now rather than later.

And if this is better than last year I'm glad I went to those games instead of watching them on BTN.
 

The announcing was pretty bad but no worse than the game. Sloppy game filled with turnovers and fouls. A much better effort will be needed Friday night.
