Here is the article from Bucknuts:
The Ohio State defensive line has lost one member of its rotation with the news that redshirt freshman tackle Willie Mobley will transfer out of the program. BuckeyeSports.com has the details.
Ohio State defensive lineman Willie Mobley has told BuckeyeSports.com that he is leaving the team and transferring to UCLA.
In a phone call Friday night, the redshirt freshman from Eden Prairie, Minn., said he is making the move to be closer to his family, which has moved from Minnesota to Los Angeles.
“I talked to (head) coach (Jim) Tressel and (defensive line) coach (Jim) Heacock,” he told BuckeyeSports.com. “I’ve got their full blessing and full support. I loved my year here at Ohio State. My mom and all my family moved from Minnesota to Los Angeles and so I’ll be closer to them.”
The 6-3, 265-pound Mobley did not play as a freshman after undergoing shoulder surgery. He was working for playing time at defensive tackle this fall and was listed as the third-team tackle on the depth chart in the fall media guide.
A message to an OSU spokesperson was not immediately returned.
“For football reasons, this is the best move for me,” Mobley said. “I’m going to miss all my friends and my teammates here. I loved living in Columbus and being part of the Buckeyes but this was the best move for me for football reasons.”
A four-star prospect out of high school, Mobley selected OSU over Minnesota and Wisconsin, two other schools he visited officially. As a senior, he recorded 66 tackles – 21 for loss – and 12 sacks while leading his team to its second consecutive state title.
Mobley said he leaves the Buckeyes with no hard feelings.
“I’m going to take everything I learned from Coach Tressel and Coach Heacock with me to California,” he said. “There’s absolutely no animosity on my part or on their part. We parted friends. They were very helpful to me.”
In addition to UCLA, Mobley said he also considered transferring to Arizona and Arizona State.
