Watching the draft I can't help but to think Rodney Williams would become an Alec Burks type player. They are so similar. Not great shooters, exact same size and frame. Explosive to the rim and deadly in the open floor.
Uhh... Unless I am quite mistaken, Burks is actually an excellent shooter- that was one of the things they kept mentioning in scouting reports as a reason he was being considered as a possible lottery pick.
So maybe you mean that he wasn't a great shooter when he arrived in school and he worked hard on it (like I bet Rodney is) and improved? If so, I hope Rodney follows that path, definitely.
What I find interesting is that both Derrick Williams and Alec Burks were both in the Rodney's recruiting class. Rodney was highly-rated 4-star recruit (#100 nationally).
Neither Derrick Williams and Alec Burks were in the Rivals 150 and both were 3-star athletes. Williams was a late add to Arizona's recruiting class and Burks had it narrowed down to Colorado and K-State. After two years of college both Derrick Williams and Alec Burks became lottery picks and will likely make about $10-15 million in their first contract.
Hopefully Rodney can develop and play his way into that neighborhood.
Burks had the best mid-range game in the country last year. Rodney's is non-existent.
Burks has a good handle. Rodney's is lacking.
Burks is an above average passer. We don't know about Rodney, We'll have to wait until he tries one to see. (OK,OK that was a bit mean)
OTOH, Rodney is has better form on his dunks (and plays a lot better defense).
Actually Rodney is a great passer. Look at some of this years highlights and Rodney has some sick dimes. Like that touch pass @ Iowa. That is one thing positive I've noticed about Rod.
