Will the Gophers be wearing 1960 Throwbacks?

With the honoring of the 1960 National Championship team, I would think that if ever ther is a game to suit up in the 1960 throwback uniforms, tomorrow would be it.

Plus, it would help the two teams with similar colors stand apart.
 




Hopefully. They're the Gophers' best unis.

I wish they'd go with a slightly updated version as their permanents.

maroon jerseys

Sounds like at least the 1960 players being honored at halftime will be wearing throwbacks, per Marcus. I'm also hoping they go with the throwbacks, but I feel like we would have heard about it.

Anyone know if they are going to be on sale anywhere? I'd really love to buy one.

If they did and won they'll be wearing them the rest of the season.

With a gold helmet, and changing the numbers on the jerseys a bit, these unis would be way better than what we're currently using.
 

That maroon would match the field as well. Remove the #'s from the helmets and replace with the block M and you have perfection.
 





Maroon tops with the White Pants would be cool

They have yet to break out the maroon top on white bottom look. Why not try something "new". Even the gold top on the white bottom would work.
Just don't wear the same uniform as last week, that one can be totally flushed for bringing back bad memories.
 

I really wish we'd go with a more traditional uniform, but I suppose we have to take what the folks at Nike give us. I've always thought we should take the best element of our uniforms from over the years and develop a home, road and special occasion uni. Home would be the unis from 1960, road jersey would be white with maroon numbers somewhat similar to the ones worn during the Giel years. Our special unis would be as close to a replica of the unis from the 1940s as possible. The helmet would always be the maroon with a block M from the seventies, since that was always my favorite, because it was not too big or too small.
 


I would never bash Brewster again if they rock these tomorrow...

I'm always dying to hear the ending, but then you never finish!
 

speaking of throwbacks...that's a play we should bring back sometime, Weber rolls right, plants, and throws back to the left hash to a wide open Eric Lair...Touchdown!!! Gophers 10 USC 7 at the end of 1. (in the 60's uni's of course)

To answer my own question, The Find has Valentine, Wentzel, and Metz jerseys from that 2006 NDSU game. I always did want a Wentzel game worn jersey...
 

i would pee myself is they came running out of the tunnel in these!
 



The Gophers are playing a large market team tomorrow in USC and we need to put our best foot forward on our choice of uniform and we need to forget about wearing a throwback. Our best uniform is the gold top with maroon pants. Our traditional is our maroon top and gold pants. One of those two better come out of the tunnel. The all golds stunk and tomorrow isn't the time to unveil our maroon top and white pants. Maroon on maroon is okay, but certainly not close to our top two uniforms.
All our uniforms would look so much better with black shoes by the way.

With that said.. I love those throwbacks.. Why in the hell don't we just keep them? Stop all the changing of the uniforms and keep them. Only time they should be allowed to change them is if they win a National Championship. THEN worry about changing the unis. Until then, bring us the 1960 uniforms!!

If you won a Championship why the hell would you change uniforms!?!?!?! That would be like Joe Mauer changing his pre-game rituals after winning the Triple Crown.

Good point.. That's why we just gotta keep the '60 unis.. =)
