Will Mbakwe/White Redshirt?

I believe the line for redshirting a player is before 30% of the season is over with.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

We're at that point in the season Saturday.

I would think there would be an indication of whether Tubby's going to redshirt either of these two right?

There's no point in redshirting White. I just have a hard time seeing him stick for 4 years regardless of the reason why. Mbakwe, it really is up to him. If he's willing to stick around for 2011-12 then sure, redshirt him. If he says, 'I'm gone in April 2011 regardless' then again there's no point.

If it drags out and Mbwake is aquitted or the charges are dropped I don't see why the NCAA would not grant him an extra year.

There is no rule on redshiritng and having to declare that intention. If you play, you can't redshirt. If you don't play, you get another year of eligibilty. You can say you are redshirting and play in the last game of the year and lose the whole year of eligibility.

^^^^This. There is no "form" to submit to before you redshirt.

Unless it's a medical redshirt which you can play in something like 20% of the games and still potentially be granted a redshirt after the fact.

The redshirt deadline is an interesting wrinkle. It is in everyone's best interest to get this resolved for both players prior to 12/31 so as to go into the BT schedule with a clear idea of personnel, rotations, etc.

U R wrong. The 30% rule refers to INJURY redshirt possibility.

The REGULAR redshirt possibility is lost when 1 second of PT occurs in any game.

There is NO deadline. They either play and use a year of eligibility or don't play and save a year. This isn't an injury situation. There doesn't have to be any "declaration" of intentions.
