Sad to think, but this crossed my mind last night, and knowing Gopher football history, it's a definite possibility. I certainly hope not, but I think it will be true if Coyle doesn't make a hell of a hire for this program. I think Maturi stumbled into dumb luck with the Kill hire.

Wins at Michigan and Nebraska as well as a blowout win over Iowa and a win vs Northwestern for a 5-3 BT record and 2nd place BT West finish. Played in a New Years Day Bowl game ending a 53 year drought. Held 3 of the 4 Trophy game trophies.

I guess we'll just have to watch and see. I know this will be considered a stupid post, but looking at the big picture it seems more likely than less likely to me without a Jerry Kill (or better) type hire. I just think that's how good Kill was, and that he was a rare/unique hire in the last 50 years of Gopher football history. I'll be ecstatic to be wrong. Like many, Kill is who got me as interested/vested in this program since the days of Foggie, Thompson, and Holtz. Hopefully the program can build off of this rare moment in the last half century of The University of Minnesota Gopher football.

Hope Springs Eternal in GH Land.

Never stop believing.

Remind me again what Kill accomplished above what TC did?

Oh good, another "8 win season" argument. If you can't see why beating helmet schools is more exciting than beating Rutgers and Oregon State we can't help you. You're on fire lately.

The post was about TC being a flop and that we had dumb luck in getting Kill. I asked what did Kill do that TC hadn't and the above is your response. Very relevant. Do you wonder why you are alone every Saturday night?

Mason says as a coach you sell one of two things- hope or results. We certainly know it hasn't been the latter so better believe in the former.

He never considers himself alone, as long as he keeps his Grindr app open.

Insults when you continually lose arguments - great. Keep 'me coming.

You asked what Kill accomplished that TC hasn't. Seems pretty obvious.

Did Kill do that in his first year. BOX

Another one with nothing to add. You, Spoofin, bob, and a few others are on a tear.

This is rich. Anyone who doesn't agree with your agenda has nothing to add, is "losing" every argument, and is on a tear. You are a sad man.

We're talking about 2014. One set of results has happened. Another is hopeful thinking. Try to keep up. Has TC accomplished what Kill has? No!

Box. Whatever that means.

I bring actual arguments. Data, numbers. Things like that.

Tell me again about how there is no proven link between concussions and CTE. Remember when you "won" that argument.

You mean you cherry pick certain stats that you feel support your argument? Wow, you must really appreciate that.

I absolutely won it for the reasons discussed already. No incidence or epidemiological data. It exists but the risk appears to be quite low.

You're the party without any scientific data. Why don't we wait for that before drawing sweeping conclusions? Stage one thinking is not acceptable.

I do appreciate data. Global warming - data. Smoking significantly increases risk of death - data. Every kid that suffers a concussion will die of Alzheimer's or other degenerative disease - absolutely no data to support. Same with college players. In fact, the evidence shows football players tend to lead longer lives than the general population.

Are you excited for Tom Allen's 7th year as HC of Indiana?

When will the snow stop?

Continuation of the same program. At least Tom Allen has P5 experience outside of Indiana at a good SEC program.

This thread is SOOO MINNESOTAAAAN.

Woe is me; the next bad thing is around the corner; never get too optimistic.

Question:Will 2014 be the peak of Gopher Football 10 years+ from now?

Answer: No.

Question: Will this be considered a stupid post?

Answer: Yes. One of the stupidest.

Agree. I'm glad the original poster's interest in Gopher football was rejuvenated with Kill's hiring. He renewed interest in the program for a lot of people, but I see this team continuing to work their way up the food chain. Enjoy the bowl game and get ready for a fun 2017.

I agree with the OP up to a point. 8 wins WITH wins over MI, Neb and IA is by my opinion a better season than 8 wins with no trophy-game victories.

If the Gophers don't win the Division, then what ranks next in order of importance? Trophy Games, and playing in the best possible bowl game. 2014 Gophers won Trophy Games and played in a January 1st Bowl game. (also lost to Ohio State by only 7 pts). 2016 Gophers won NO trophy games, and will not be playing in a Jan. 1st bowl game. 2014 was a better season. (at least as I define better)

Will it be the peak of Gopher FB achievement? I hope not, but only time will tell.

Another one with nothing to add. You, Spoofin, bob, and a few others are on a tear.

Why would you bring me into this? Tell me one time that I didn't make a substantive argument to your idiotic posts. Well, besides this I guess.

I agree. 2014 was a better season than this year.

I actually don't think 2014 will be our peak season. Like you, at least I hope it isn't.

Bob, some people - mostly kids, but some adults too - take it personal when someone disagrees with them. You did that and now will be lumped in with the likes of UU and Spoofin. Good Luck.
