Two weeks in a row wildcat plays were run about 6 times.
Two weeks in a row about 5 of the plays were stopped for -2 to 2 yards but one was busted for a huge gain.
And it isn’t like it was just Hersman candidates. Also the Rutgers guy with the hair.

Wildcat didn’t work last night. I’m not so sure they were as foolish as people want to think they were for trying it.

Could Tell why Gophers tried to use the Wildcat look against Michigan.

Problem was the Safety playing linebacker was knifing in off the edge and in our backfield as Gophers O trying to run the play. Smith was attacked before he had any chance to even make a play. That is why I say they should have bagged it sooner. You could tell they were trying to set it up where Rodney handed off or did the pitch to Croft, I thought that was a good idea, but it became clear we could not hold our blocks long enough to execute any kind of mis-direction or option pitch off the play. Gophers O-line not fast enough and strong enough to hold there blocks against that Michigan front 7. You could tell Michigan had a pretty tough front, pretty much played the best I have seen of anyone this season against the Gophers. The way they the defensive ends were getting off the ball and crashing off the edge, there would have to have been more speed option plays going away from there ends in order for that to work.

Wildcat didn’t work last night. It just wasn't ever going to have the timing up front to make it work.

The wildcat can't work with this o-line. Time to forget about it.

Well, not every team we play has a guy like Hurst. I'm sorry to say, but there were a few plays where he just plain embarrassed our guards.

And then they had Hudson doing his own thing ... so basically every time he saw that little "switch" in the shotgun, he made a bee-line straight for the guy getting the snap (not Croft) and demolished him, with only a Gopher TE sometimes slowing him by a fraction of a second.

There is something to be said for putting a scheme on film, to make the next opponents have to prepare for it. But I don't think Nebraska is too worried about it right now ...

Don’t think they were doing it for the hustlers. Michigan was schematically flawed against wildcat two weeks in a row....we were trying to take advantage of that. We failed. It happens.

It failed because the TE BAILED out and never chipped, and the guards were to slow to cover and cut the knifing player off. With no 3rd player in backfield to pick anyone up. Craft certainly isn't going to pick up the back.

I did see Wozniak once "push" Hudson with both hands, if you can call it that, as he zoomed by. That did seem to slow him down by approx. 0.017 seconds, before demolishing the play.

Wozniak is a terrible blocker.
He doesn’t block well in non-wildcat either. Never has.

Plus we don’t have a skilled player that is fast enough to take a crease when the other team is cheating and make them pay for it.
