The U of M and this site now recognize a nat'l championship for the Gophers in 1904 because Peter Billingsley, a football historian and current pollster, made a three year study to backdate champions of yesteryear and in the process changed his choice for 1904 from Michigan (so noted by the NCAA Football Records) to Minnesota. But Billingsley also named the Gophers champions for 1911 and 1915. This is by far the easiest way to win nat'l championships, so let's add two more.
