yesterday's "big announcement" didn't happen?

And why is it that I have no problem believing that the problem is either

a) Brewster is ready, but being MLK day, noone from the U was around to have the press conference.

or

b) Brewster still is talking like he knows what's going on, but continues to fail to deliver?

If only we had a competent AD.............

All signs point to Brewster still searching for an OC. I'm glad that he hasn't settled on the likes of Horton or Fitch, but am also concerned that this seems to be dragging out longer than expected.

It sounds to me like they turned us down rather than vice-versa. If, as was reported, the offers were for a one-year contract, then it wasn't much of an offer.

Just maybe he wants to make sure he has

the right guy.......you want Brewster to pick someone just to have someone? caliGopher, do you ever post anything that isn't a criticism? You bore me.

Where do we get off saying he is "settling" for someone? I will point out the OC for Oregon, Chip Kelly, as a prime example. He was the OC at the University of New Hampshire before being hired at Oregon. If he had been hired at Minnesota, the hire would have been blasted by the same people on this board who are currently blasting the job Brewster is doing in this hiring process.

Kelly, I think we can agree, has done well and will soon be the head coach there. If you say you wouldn't want an offense of that quality at Minnesota you are kidding yourself. The fact of the matter is that nobody on this board, myself included, has nearly as much insight into who would be a good OC as does Brewster.

Let's give the guy who is hired, whoever he is, a chance to actually coach before we say that we are "settling" for him or made a bad hire. The defeatist attitudes of some people on here is amazing.

I think defeatist would be an upgrade for many.

Someone on the BB side had a funny post. Someone was complaining about how long it was taking Tubby to make adjustments during the games. The response to this was that it takes a while for someone to read through the postings, here, to find out what the proper adjustments were.

The difference here however is that Mike Bellotti had a long successful run as head coach at Oregon before Chip Kelly was hired and therefore earned the right to not have his choices questioned to the same extent as he proved he could build a winner, Brewster has not yet. Also, any potential criticism that Brewster may receive he brought on himself by saying it would be a "kill shot". He did not need to put that out there in the first place, but he did and will be held accountable by the fans then.

I agree that his quote was probably over the top, but who cares? Does his saying that mean we should slam his pick if it does not meet our definition of a "kill shot?"

I don't care what he says- let's actually see the product before we judge.

What I meant by settling for someone is that he didn't feel that he needed to pick someone by Monday. Last week there were reports that we'd have our new OC announced by Monday. If Horton and Fitch turned us down, whatever. Nothing from their resumes indicates that they are at the level of a Chip Kelly. All I meant by that is that I'm happy that Brewster didn't settle on what seemed to be his 4th or 5th choice of OC, and is now expanding his search of finding someone who will be a better fit for the program. I have no problem taking a guy from a small school. I'm just glad that Brewster hasn't rushed to judgment and is trying to do what's best for the program
