that Royce White is really gone from the team- caused by either by coach or university-- but they cant announce it yet?

Unfortunately I get the idea that that's probably true. Any chance he plays JUCO somewhere without problems and returns? Probably not I guess. I'll probably get crap for this. Oh well.

This could possibly be true, but I don't understand why they would have to hold this information back.

I can't say that I agree, he has not been convicted of anything yet, while there is speculation that he may have been involved in this second theft, it's all just speculation. Until the University has further details regarding the matter, he will remain on the team. How can the University expell him without hard evidence? The answer is they can't, and they won't. As far as his suspension goes, I can't say that I disagree with Tubby in not allowing him to practice with the team or attend home games because of the distraction he currently portrays. I have a feeling that Tubby is going to continue to suspend him for quite sometime, my guess would be at least another 5 games. Hopefully this suspension has opened the eyes of Royce on how he needs to change his ways, and start acting like a man (who knows right from wrong) instead of an 8th grader (with a punk-like attitude) who feels the rules don't apply to him.

On ther other hand, I can't get my hopes up on Royce being with the team for very long, because I feel it is only a matter of time before he screws up elsewhere, i.e grades, a fight, etc.

At this point he is on extremely thin ice. In the circumstance he is found guilty of this second theft, then he has forced the hand of the University to kick him out of school, and rightfully so. If he was not involved, I wish him luck in staying out of further trouble, because I just don't see that happening.

I guess White was involved in the laptop theft in some way since he has not been cleared of it yet. But, has it been established that he was the one who entered and took the laptop? Or, was it one of the posses, and White was, say, a bystander or so? At any rate, there have to be some legal issues to work out. Maturi also has to keep it consistent with how the matter involving Trevor is being handled.

If there are multiple witnesses that White was the one, then the grand theft may/should be treated as felony, espcially with the previous petty theft. But, I don't know much about law. Is there any expert opinion on this?

1.) wow! that is quite a jump to make considering you were not there and have no more knowledge of the incident that any of us.

2.) really? come on. you are teasing us right?! ;)

I can say that you are not the only one getting this vibe. I think as of now, we are stuck in the public relations oblivion the University likes to call its "News Service". I just don't understand why Tubby would say on Friday that he doesn't want to comment until "everything is finalized", then the next day, comes out and says that everything remains the same and that Royce is still "suspended indefinitely". To go along with this, I find it interesting that White missed both the Friday game and Saturday morning practice, with no apparent explanation.

I could be totally wrong, but to me, this still smells like fish.

This could possibly be true, but I don't understand why they would have to hold this information back.

Two reasons:

1. Data privacy laws. There are many things that, unless compelled by a court case, the U will never be allowed to discuss.

2. Due process. Royce has rights, and those rights have to be respected. While the path this is taking doesn't look good, the due process is there to make sure that there isn't any railroading going on and that all the facts pro and con are considered. Until that process ends, you don't know for absolute certain what will happen, so it's premature to announce anything.

My guess--and that's all that it is--is that this will be a University decision rather than a coach's call.

I would be willing to make a wager of six cold adult malt beverages that Royce White never returns to practice and never plays again for the Gophers.
