We got the ball back with 2:30 to go or so and we basically sat on the ball. We had a few early plays of positive yardage (maybe even a first down) and then we just ran it up the middle, took basically all of the play clock and ran into the locker room with 20 seconds to go. I realize the chances of us scoring weren't great, but if we somehow did, it seems like being down 24-7 with a bit of momentum is a whole lot better than 24-0 and basically telling your offense you don't trust them. Worse case scenario is we throw a pick six. 31-0 isn't much different than 24-0 at that point.

The TCU fans that we were sitting by were laughing at us, saying it seemed like a defeatist decision.

Kill throws in the towel when things are going like they did today.

I get the question, but let's be honest.... the game was over.

I hate that. Mason used to do that sometimes, too. It signals lack of confidence.

That's not something you want your head coaching saying or thinking. Just getting on the scoreboard, even if a FG, could have been big for the confidence.

No matter what anyone says, we threw the ball the play before the last three runs. If we're going to sit on it, then why pass to begin with?

The towel would be the only thing we successfully threw the whole game.

Playing to keep the blow out manageable?
24-0 is better then 31-0 Why take the risk????

There probably was an element of just get to the locker room without giving up any more points. Kill has done this before. Really is amazing that now in the 4th season we have never won a game we were trailing at half time under Kill

Because it doesn't matter if it's by 17 points of if it's 3, Jerry knows he can't win when he's behind at the half.

How about punting on 4th and 1 with 50 seconds left in the game. lol

I woulda done the same thing at that point it is just take your a$$ kicking and get out of there without injury. If they would have went for it and be calling timeouts just to try to score again and woulda been the same thing they criticized EIU for doing.
