Why didn’t the BT set a 10/17 start date???? That’s plenty of time for teams to get ready, over 4 weeks. Seems stupid to me.

They could of stayed with the same 8 games and left the last week before the BT Championship for make up games if necessary to give themselves a little buffer for potential cancelled games. If not necessary then it gives a week buffer to prepare for the title game.

Thoughts?

They need time to get the tests, get everyone testing daily, etc. Logistically that's going to take a little while to get working smoothly.

Also practices have been non-contact I think, so there's a certain amount of full contact practice that needs to happen before games I think.

There certainly are a lot of arm chair experts on this site who clearly should be in charge the BIG.

They need to give the ncaa a full month to reinstate all the players who opted out

Because I have plans to be out of town on a fishing and camping trip and would have missed the game.(y)

The team has been practicing the whole time. They probably could've been ready to go next weekend. Although coaching staff probably wants at least a couple weeks to scout the known week 1 opponent and develop the gameplans.

So, why not Oct 10, if we're asking about Oct 17?

A practical perspective would discuss potential logistics hurdles with deploying tests although it sounds like the daily tests will be ready within a few weeks. Conceivably travel scheduling, or media scheduling, or similar led to the delay.

A cynical perspective would discuss the desire of the COP/C to observe the SEC and ACC in the first half of their seasons and see if they crash and burn, allowing a second movement to pull the plug without attendant legal and PR blowback. Also, the shape of any fall “second wave” should be abundantly clear by late October. Pure speculation at this time.

The whole world would be better, if those in charge just based their decisions on this board!

I don’t mean to rain on your pity parade, but the COP/C have indeed shifted their position on testing, screening, risks to more align with known science rather than wild-haired hypothesis. Now about allowing distanced and masked fans...

Are you going to show up and support this fall season, or boycott? I’d suggest following your moral code.

So my choices are support or boycott? Didn't realize saying listen to the experts meant I have to boycott. But then you've always considered yourself the smartest one in the room so I guess I can see where you think you get to dictate. Going to cheer for the Gophers and going to keep listening to the experts, not some serial posting clown on the internet.
