I feel like the university would have announced that the season was over following the Wisconsin game if they knew that 9 players would be potentially expelled or suspended from the school...

That's just plain dumb/ignorant if they did not anticipate the blowback from this.. Sure, maybe the players boycotting was unforeseeable, but the announcement of the suspensions alone would give the program terrible press in the run up to the bowl game... which, again, makes me ask: why accept the damn bowl invitation?????????

Maybe these guys weren't expecting the recommendations from the EOAA?

I don't think they have a choice. The bowl money is split among all Big Ten teams, so the Big Ten would force anyone eligible to go.

I would think the U could have suspended the program until next season

Haven't teams in the past declined a bowl invite because they deemed their season a failure?

Maybe Coyle can find replacement players like Keenu Reeves, Jon Favreau and Orlando Jones and hire Gene Hackman to coach them...We could still keep the 2.8 million dollar check!

Notre Dame did a couple years back when they went 6-6......but they aren't aligned with a conference in football.

If the recommendations were a surprise, it's on Coyle. He needs to manage that better.

If the recommendations weren't a surprise... wow... mismanagement is an understatement.
