I would!!!
How awesome it would be to see PJ and the Gophers regularly whoop on the Domers?

Count me in!

Well, of course. For an "intense rivalry" to emerge, not only would we need to play them annually (or close), but we'd have to win our share of games. That means we're probably making the playoffs often. I'll take making the playoff often with or without the rivalry. But I'd take the rivalry along with it, too.

Hell No!!!!!! That would be the worst thing for me ever. I'm a diehard fan of both teams (mom's side ND, Dad's side Gophs) They have never had anything to really do with each other besides Lou Holtz. which i would like to stay that way........... Irish Goph!

Sure. Why not.

Would also like to be at a level where we are "intense rivals" with Ohio State, Oregon, Bama, etc.

Go Gophers!!

I am not sure why the rivalry would be there. Geography or difference in philosophy isn't really there. I like the rivalries we already have. Adding more the mix dilutes the ones we have

A long time ago I really wanted to play ND often. Now, not so much. I think a back to back every once in a while would be fun, but I love our real rivalry games and think they’re plenty enough tradition, history and fun.

You're right.

Oregon is 1-3 against Minnesota. Alabama is 0-1.

With only one win against 4 losses, looks like Oregon and Alabama have some work to do in order to attain the status of rivals for the Golden Gophers. I for one am not holding my breath. Too much ground to make up.

Is the expanded B1G schedule not hard enough already without playing Notre Dame most/every year? Which is what an "intense rivalry" should entail. We already have intense rivalries and protected games with two upper-half programs which makes the journey that much tougher.

It would be fun to do a home-and-home with them for a couple seasons.

If we won in South Bend the "PJ to Notre Dame" chatter would reach a fever pitch before the Gophers got on the bus

My grandfather loved to travel with his brothers-in-law by train to away Gopher football games in the 1930s and 1940s. The last time Minnesota played at Notre Dame they took one of the game-special trips which stopped in Chicago for a couple hours to give passengers time for a restaurant meal for dinner. They were having such a good time in Chicago they missed the train to South Bend and decided to spend the night in Chicago and forego the game. They picked up the train in Chicago when it stopped for dinner the Saturday night of the game. My grandmother was not amused.

I don't really care about ND.

I did at one point think it would be fun, but they're not in the B1G, they're not a B1G team. They don't want to be one ... I wouldn't want them in the B1G in the way they're in the ACC.

🤷🏼‍♂️

If you told me we had some long term scheduling deal to play Mizzou .. I'd be more excited than some artificial ND thing.
