Bama will win but Irish will beat the +10 spread.

We need a second poll for who you rooting for and why. I'm torn in that I'm sick of the SEC superiority mantra and wouldn't mind seeing a midwest school with strong academics win and prove that it can be done.

However, the arrogance of the ND fans makes them tough to root for. But I'm sure if I lived in the south I would feel the same way about Alabama fans.

I will probably be quietly rooting for the Irish.

I'm wearing the Notre Dame Starter sweatshirt I got for Christmas in 1993. Go Irish!

Goin to the in-laws for the game tonight. He's Auburn and she's Alabama. I'll be wearing my Alabama shirt my wife makes me wea.....errrr that I choose to wear. Me and him will start off half-heartedly rooting for Alabama, until are wives arrogance become too much to swallow. We'll both be Irish by the end of the first quarter.

Love it. You should sneak a ND tee under the Alabama shirt and if the wives' arrogance causes things to get a little "hot" you can cool down by taking off a layer.

Go Hulk Hogan on that Alabama t-shirt!

I think Alabama wins but I'm grudgingly rooting for ND.

I'm rooting for ND - and I went to USC. That's how sick I am of the SEC. I also need ND to cover to win my bowl confidence league.

As a Gopher fan perhaps we should be rooting against ND. Perhaps no school other than Wisconsin has taken more MN kids.

I can't cheer for either team as I prefer they both lose. I always said the best day in college football was when Nebraska and Notre Dame both lost and I would throw Alabama into that group. I don't have a problem with the SEC winning the BCS Title again because no one else is beating them. When its #1 vs #2 I am not going to hold it against anyone if the same conference is winning all the time. It should push for other teams to improve to match that ability that keeps winning.

Roll Tide!

The envy of ND disappears for anyone who has visited Southbend. I took my daughter there for a tour and being there overnight ended the interest. ND might one of the quick D side to side so ND can keep it close. 9-6 at half and 22-13 at end.

Agreed. For the second year in a row, I can't really get into it because I hate both teams. I'm sick of the SEC's arrogance, but rooting for ND is like rooting for the Yankees.

I live in Arkansas. First off, Alabama fans are unbearable; I doubt any fanbase could be more annoying, and I don't even live in Alabama. Second, anybody who's school is in the SEC WORSHIPS the conference, and roots for all its teams like no tomorrow. I will be overjoyed if ND beats Bama, though I think it's a tall task. But I'm picking the Irish to win a close one because of their red zone defense and their underrated offense which will put some points.

Is MN still the last team to beat AL in a bowl game? if so- go AL

However much cheating goes on in the SEC, and however many titles that conference wins, I cannot bring myself to root for the arrogance from South Bend. And at least Alabama didn't cover up a rape that resulted in a suicide (well, that we know of).

All that said, I think Bama wins but doesn't cover the spread.

Reasons to cheer for Notre Dame:

Academics - What these kids have to do in the classroom at Notre Dame is real. They are real students, which is vastly different than most colleges, especially SEC schools.

SEC fatigue / mystique – People are tired of the SEC. They didn't dominate teams in the bowl games (outside of Texas A & M). I don't believe they are heads and tails above everyone else as much as Jesse Palmer and the SECESPN Network makes it out to be. Maybe against the Big Ten, but that's about it. SEC fans are insufferable.

SEC oversigning, which gives them the benefit of a 5th class of recruits every 4 years. Giving them more kids and a HUGE margin of error. If a blue chipper flames out, no big deal because they will just recruit 35 more kids next year. If a blue chipper flames out at MN (if we are fortunate to land one) it's a huge deal.

Reasons to cheer against Notre Dame:

They are Notre Dame. That and the fact I won’t be able to take any of Lou Holtz's commentary.

To me, I have as much desire to watch it as watching Red Sox vs Yankees, Celtics vs Lakers, etc.

I will watch the game to see plays being made but as for cheering - I simply won't choose a side.

It's hard to pull for either team, but in the end, Roll Tide....

I don't see how Notre Dame scores more than 10 points against Alabama's defense. Bama 24-10.

On paper this game goes to Alabama and the SEC (urg) but people all year have been telling ND what they cant do and they ran the table.

Alabama. Because their record will be 13-1. And, everyone knows what the 1 is from.

I think Alabama wins. Maybe on a short week, Golson gives Bama problems like Manziel did. But given a month to prepare, Saban's teams usually have laser focus. I wouldn't be shocked if Notre Dame wins, and I wouldn't be shocked if Bama wins by more than 10.

I live in Midwest. First off, ND fans are unbearable; I doubt any fanbase could be more annoying, and I don't even live in South (Get) Bent. Second, anybody who's school is an independent WORSHIPS the self determinists, and roots for all like it like no tomorrow. I will be overjoyed if Bama beats ND, though I think it's a small task. Therefore I'm picking Bama to win big because of their underrated defense and their red zone offense which will put some points.

;-)

Go Gophers!

The matchup of NDs D-line against Alabama's O-line is fantastic. Can you say NFL prospects?? Go Irish !

Don't like either but if I had to cheer for one or the other I would go with Notre Dame for this one game only because as much as I can't stand the Irish I don't want to see the SEC win another national championship.

In all honesty though both options suck so I just hope it is a competitive game and not a blowout.

The team that plays with the most abandon, and I think it will be Notre Dame. But close...I'm thinking of the 1973 Sugar Bowl, one of the best college games I've ever seen (I was living then in New Orleans).
