Who will be the first 100 yard rusher for the Gophers this year?

I think it will have to be somebody with enough speed to break off a 40-50 yard run. In my mind that is Gray or Edwards. I think defenses will key on Gray at first so I am going with Edwards.

I voted for Bennett, but my first thoughts when I read the thread title was "Q or Bennett"

If it happens in game 1 it'll be gray.
If it happens in game 2 it'll be Bennett.
If it happens in game 3 it'll be Edwards.

Gray is gonna have a lot of 4-10 yard runs this year that are just busted plays, not called runs.

I'd like to vote for all 6 against NDSU (Ed Cotton falls just short at 88 yards).

MG will because he can't throw very well so he will run all the time.

Rosemountain nailed it:

Game 1, Gray. If we get a 100 yard rusher it's going to be a bunch of busted plays and maybe he can break out once or twice.

Game 2, Bennett. It'll be an inferior opponent and if we're coming off losing at USC, Kill will look to grind them into submission.

Game 3, Edwards. I hope it doesn't get this far given the scheme Kill used last year.

You nailed my thoughts. Gray might get a lot of meaningless 8 yard runs on 3rd and 12 against good opponents, but that yardage adds up.

I'd take 8 yards over 0 yards. After you punt, that means the opponent starts 8 yards father back.

I think the answer is clearly Gray. Bennett had two 100 yard games to open the year last year, but after that, the production fell off for various reasons. He had 7 carries for 8 yards against 'SC last year. Granted it is a whole new scheme and coaching staff, but I envision a rotation of backs early on in the year, making it difficult for any one of them to rack up a 100 yard game, barring someone busting off a 75 yard TD run...which none of us would be opposed to.

Heading into fall practice, I would've gone with Kirkwood. But you gotta go with Bennett.
