Who Hates Iowa?

I don't hate Iowa nearly as much as I hate Wisconsin. Iowa is not worth the energy to hate.

I agree, but I can easily muster up enough hate for the popcorn skunks, the sue and the pigeyes for all eternity.

I hate in this order...
Sue Hockey
Iowa Football
Badger everything
All other opponents combined.

Even Iowa hates Iowa. Who hates ioweeeeeee. We hate ioweeeeeee.

I look at it this way...I actually like Iowa, it is all of the people there that I hate.

The word hate is so extreme. If you were to cruise on any Iowa board, you would not find that that sentiment is widely held or discussed towards the Gophers. Pity perhaps, but not hatred. If you feel this way towards a state which so obviously cannot rival you in wealth and urbanity, then I can only conclude a deep sense of insecurity. You should reserve your hate for those you consider to be equal, like Wisconsin. The thing is, people from Wisconsin don't have to build up their sense of self esteem by proclaiming hate for any one else.

I feel sorry for Iowa. They had their little niche as the Big Ten school with a solid fanbase and a pretty good football program with little else in their state to hitch their wagons to. Now that Nebraska's joined, that position has been soundly usurped. Oh well. They've still got Ashton Kutcher.

From reading your post, I can only conclude that you are new to the sport of football, and are quite unfamiliar with what it involves. Hating your rivals is part of the game. In sports, hate is respect. It has absolutely nothing to do with "building up a sense of self-esteem". But you know that already, don't you? If we go to the Iowa boards (we can actually check for ourselves, you know), there's going to be plenty of good old-fashioned hate.

I do not think this word means what you think it means.

Hint: it has nothing to do with population density.

I think you are mistaken in your belief that you do not think that he thinks he knows what he thinks it is.

If he knows what it actually means, and then posted that way, he is even less intelligent than I thought. His whole post is chiding us for essentially being classless, and then says that Iowa fans can't match Gopher fans in sophistication. Does that make sense? Of course, he is the same poster who notified us of the ample Broadway-quality shows taking place in Des Moines.

The problem stems from the Metrodome days when Iowa fans acted like they owned the place (e.g. taking down the goal posts). I actually heard an Iowa fan complain last year about the number of MN fans at the game - like he was appalled that they would actually be allowed in to their own stadium! That absolute lack of class is why I hate Iowa more than any other school.

huh?

I have to remain non-commital on this subject. My doctor is an Iowa grad.

Actually, I never said that you are more sophisticated, just that you think you are. What I said was Minnesota is a more wealthy state than Iowa, and that Iowa has no urban center that matches the the Twin Cities.

I stand by my statement about Broadway quality in Des Moines. In fact I would bet that
Des Moines out ranks the Twin cities in attendance per capita which is why the Des MoinesCivic Center was recently named as one of the 15 best theatre venues in the world. That
ranking was based on attendance, which is why a number of shows stop in Des Moines
first when they go off Broadway.

Example; La Cage Aux Folles played Des Moines first off Broadway, before heading to the Twin Cities. The point is, cultural opportunities only benefit those who actually attend
them. If you live in a large urban area and sit home watching American Idle, which I bet isyour idea of a good time, how sophisticated are you?
