Great idea! How do write in Pat for the Turkey of the Year? Hell why not Turkey of the Decade or maybe Century. He is already stuffed.
 

Until he gives it to himself I don't care. It's good to know others share my sentiments.
 



So very many options. Matt Capps. Joe Mauer. Nishioka. McNabb. Berrian. Michael Beasley. Bill Smith. McKinnie. Maturi.
 

Has to be Mauer. $23,000,000 failure, who else could it be?
 

Mauer is too obvious for Pat, although it would give him the distinction of being the first local guy to have the stones to throw Baby Jesus under the bus. He might accept the "no-brainer" just to achieve that.

Others.. Dark Starr for crying miscarriage of justice for not allowing Chris Cook out of jail to play even though any of us would have to wait until Monday to be released after the weekend, Gopher fans for storming the field against Iowa, Michael Beasley's all star game, any Viking with Zygi leading the way, R.T. for his last minute interest in a Vikings Stadium, or the Koch/Zellers combo.

My prediction.... John Marty for his selling the Dome for a $1 and being the biggest anti-stadium guy in Minnesota history.

I stopped reading as soon as he mentioned TCF Stadium as an honoree. He is a complete tool
 

How coould it have been Mauer? Is ne supposed to say, "Please don't give me that monet, I"m a 6'4" catcher whose body will fall apart at any moment?". I don't think so. It's the Twinkies who forced that money on him and then let's him dictate that he won't DH.
 

Mauer is too obvious, as he said. Ziggy was not a surprise. I did notice that Maturi has never won it, and this was the last chance. Oh well.
 

TCF Bank Stadium.

You can't get there for kickoff without a two-hour head start. And it takes longer to get off campus after a game. Plus, they can't fill the place even when folks wearing Wisconsin red occupy 20,000 seats.

We've asked the university to send over the individual responsible for not putting heat coils under the field to accept the Turkey.

I can leave my place an hour before the game - 30 minutes away and park w/o trouble. I'm sure he has a reserved spot...just hating on the U. What a freakin idiot!

Yes the Turkey Banquet Table was crowded. Pat was taking up most of the space. Pat simply doesn't get it. I have been at the end of the line when going back to the state fairgrounds parking. It goes much faster than I thought it would. Heating coils for maybe one game if that? Maybe he was thinking of heating coils for his fat "a__." Seriously though, the way he takes care of his body he's going to be dead before you know it.

You're right. I have him 2nd in my 2012 dead pool just behind Fidel Castro and one spot ahead of Sir Sid.

If Mauer was to have some perks thrown in that is not the Art that I would have picked.:)
 

I'm so surprised he felt the need to get a jab in at the U. The placement of the nominee was done on purpose... first one so everyone would read it. He found the dumbest things to pick apart... Sorry a $290M stadium that the U funded a majority on its own, the rest of which will be paid back to the state. Compare that to the Vikings who are demanding $700M which won't be paid back (other than through taxes) to the state/county. Whatever. Attendance? I'm pretty sure the Viking game on Monday night vs the Bears last year drew less fans than any Gopher game yet at TCF Bank Stadium. The heating coil debate? Again, which is it, an over-budget stadium (which he would have loved to rip on) with heating coils that are used maybe once in their existence, or leave em out to save $25M?? I didn't see the Vikings step up to fund their installation despite a possibility of playing 1-2 seasons at TCF if they get a new stadium.

Boring.

I think Zygi and Joe were equal candidates.

Another option would be for you to quit reading threads about him. It might make your life easier.
 

Reusse's Turkey column is a Minnesota tradition and one I look forward to every year. Zygi is a good pick. He also made some good points about the Bank. No reason to get upset.
