Whoever does coach them, has been amazing with Mo Walker offensively. The moves he has developed, are really terrific. Defensively he is not great, although he is getting better - last game he had a number of nice plays and did get 9 boards. The reason I mention this is that it gives me optimism for the future with Konate, Gaston and Nwankwo that these guys will be developed and perhaps have more upside than Mo, long term.

I too, have great optimism for the Bigs and the program. I of course, would have preferred that a 4-5* top 50 came to our U this year, but with coach Pitino in just his 2nd year at the helm, it wasn't going to happen. To wit, his having to find Bigs elsewhere. I haven't been this optimistic since Clem left.

Florida has a history of developing bigs. I'm guessing Pitino has a proven formula he has shared with the post coaches.
Louisville has had the same path as well.

I'm replying if only to prolong a non-despairing thread.
But really, read the article Bleed posted from the PiPress and Fuller. Jim Dutcher agrees with you bga.

But you have to also give them "credit" for Elliott regressing, which in my observation he has. He overcommits on defense, still doesn't get enough blocks or meaningfully contest enough shots and ends up out of rebounding position. For someone of his size and relative mobility these issues are correctable.

Elliot is not mobile enough as an athlete and is always going to struggle defensively. He over commits because of this and naturally gets himself in trouble.

Moonlight - there is no shortage of "despairing threads and articles" this week. That's for sure. There are good signs in the program but we need a win!

Mo has been stellar regardless of the team's record. Love what we have seen this staff do for Mo's confidence & the additional offensive moves. Still not much lift, so that holds him back from being dominant. I think his defense is much improved for not being very quick.
