If you go to Gophersports they are selling 20 of the helmets worn by the gophers last year. I assume they have retired the idea of wearing them again.
 

So the school can sell memorabilia, but the players cannot sell memorabilia given them by the school. Makes perfect sense.

I think you answered yourself. Players are given memorabilia while the school purchases their uniforms/helmets.

So if someone gives you an Xbox, it is less your Xbox than had you bought it yourself?
 

Does that mean we shouldn't be expecting white helmets again next year?
 


Anyone else thinking about buying one?

it's financial decisions like this that keep me living at my parents house.
 

I'd be the coolest 57-year-old on the block with one of those. Or maybe not.

Why would the school not be able to sell memorabilia? Players are given the memorabilia and by selling it would be benefiting from outside sources. The school pays for it. They can sell whatever they want if they bought it. Makes perfect sense to me
 



I sure as hell hope we still see them next year! I love the white helmets for this team and wish we could have them as a solid alternative helmet option during the season!

I think "give" is the wrong word. Most high school, college, and even many professional (minor league baseball for example) don't let the players keep the jerseys/equipment. The lend it to them. If your company gives you a work vehicle to use, it doesn't mean it's actually yours. When you stop working for the company, you probably give it back.

Lucky. I think those helmets are fricken sick as hell and I would love to have one, but $250 is a little bit spendy for me right now. I'm hoping Riddell or whomever will come out with a cheaper replica version of that helmet, and I'd be all over that one.

I'd set that sucker up on a nice mantel and shine a little spotlight on it, and I can picture right now how that would look, and it would be SUHWEET! :cool:

I'd rather see the gophs sport a gold helmet before ever wearing a white helmet.
 

To all of us 'old fart' Gopher fans, all throw back uniforms should have LEATHER HELMETS.:cool02:

Dang, 18 replys and Doc hasn't jumped on anyone about helmets and uniforms don't win games.
 



Does anyone have the link for this sale by any chance? I was looking for it but couldn't find it. I read they made 30 additional helmets available because of high demand. Wonder if they sold out? I was waiting for my tax refund to buy one.

I got one of the 30 extra. I went back just the other day to try and find a link to send to a buddy and couldn't. I'm guessing they sold out.
