(besides Beal and Green)

QB: Pride, Parish
RB: Kirkwood, Edwards, Wright
WR: Cameron Wilson
OL: Gjere, Epping, Ragoo, Eggen, Lenkiwicz, Haney
DT: Ferguson, Legania, Tauefa (I know, but I am counting him)
DE: Boticelli, Perry
LB: Singleton, Mitchell, Tatum
DB: Bouie

-I think it's probably a good thing that I can't see a lot of these guys being big contributors next season. Bouie could certainly play an important role, especially if Carter doesn't get his act together. The three RBs all look like they could help us, but Eskridge and Bennett might be tough to steal a ton of carries from.

The only spot where we will be counting on these RS is at Oline.

What is that supposed to mean?

Because I thought that he technically lost his RS status because we were so thin at DT for 1 game.

Kirkwood is on the border of qualifying for a medical redshirt. If I read the regulations correctly he does, in any case, he has to apply for and have it granted, before it counts. Our biggest problem is a consistant pass rush, Botticelli was Defensive Scout Team POY, if he can rush the passer, he's my choice.

Singleton was a redshirt in 2009 and used his first year of eligibility this past season. He shouldn't be on this list.

As to the question at hand, I could see Gjere competing for the starting spot at RG with Carufel's graduation. It also seems like Lenkiewicz was making some headway on the interior OL this season. I could see Perry and/or Botticelli being in the rotation on the DL, and Bouie should get some PT in the back end.

Best case scenario, none of them, there should be people ahead of all of them. Realistically though we know that's not the case, I'd put my money on Bouie as the secondary is where they seem the thinnest.

The answer is

Edwards although others will also make a fine contribution.

I am pretty sure Tauefa did not play and did not lose his RS year. Horton said afterwards it would not have been fair to the kids to burn their redshirt year for two or three games.

Oh ok, well, I am glad he didn't lose his RS.

Dp---good call on the Singleton too.

I actually think the ones who have a chance to make an impact next season are Bouie, Gjere, Epping (backup C) and possibly D. Mitchell who I think will become a pass rush specialist.

Good thread

Let's throw out the QB's. Who the heck knows what's gonna happen with out RB stable. Don't know much about Wilson at WR. Did Bryant Allen redshirt?

I hope Gjere has a big impact. We'll have a couple spots on the right side of the line that need help.

I've heard good things about Boticelli. He's the walk-on from WI, right? Someone needs to step up at D-end. Speaking of which, I'll bet Mitchell gets some looks at a pass rushing LB position if we move to a 3-4.

Not very high on Bouie - hope I'm wrong

Yeah, Burt really wanted to him to walk-on at Madison, but he came here because his "serious girlfriend" goes here and he couldn't convince her to transfer to Madison.

I don't think any of the RBs will make a big impact, barring injury. We've got two 4-year RBs returning next season, and I don't think any of the RS guys are at the level where they will be sniping a ton of carries away.

I would expect Gjere to have the biggest impact.

Great, put her on staff

Yeah there's something to really like about walk-ons who can make an impact on the defensive side of the ball. It's like they've got to play a different kind of game to get noticed. A little more sense of purpose, maybe a little more a**hole to em. Like Rallis or Ben West. Or even Hoese for that matter - toughest kid on the field this year.

And how has that running game been the past 3 years? I know it was good against Iowa, but the overall numbers do not lie. It was pretty clear IMO at the beginning of the year, Kirkwood was more talented and a better runner than either Eskridge or Bennett.
