Which Big 10 BB program do you most despise-OSU Board

That whole thread is lol.

I've never seen a better example of an entire population not letting go something that happened 38 years ago with the whole Corky thing. Not to mention whenever the Corky thing gets brought up over here we pretty much condemn the hell out of it.

Something to get my Sunday morning lulz from though I guess.

Yeah...nothing like that could ever happen at tOSU...oh wait, I see, to recall thier beloved football coach Woody Hayes throat punching a kid from Georgia in a bowl game...ESPN has it rated the biggest cheap shot in sports history.

Clemson player (actually) but your point is the same.

Luke Witte

Was considered the "chuch" poster boy in the incident. He was the biggest cheap shot in the Big Ten. In the game before he had thrown a neck high elbow at a kid from Northwestern. He had as much a hand in inciting the incident than any Gopher. As the half end and the teams were leaving the court he threw a neck high elbow that just missed Gopher guard Bob Nix. The officals had already left the court to a chorus of boos by the fans. The first half was extremely rough and the head offical Red Struthers let the game get completely out of hand. It was certainly the most intense game I have ever been a part of as a fan/player. People were jammed in as the fire
marshals looked the other way. The place was filled 30 minutes before tipoff and homemade signs were all over the barn. I remember the week before the game the papers were really hyping the game with comments by players from both teams. After Giel called the game with about 30 seconds left people were walking out of the game red eyed and with clenched fists. Believe me it could have been much worse. There were maybe a couple 100 OSU fans there sitting behind the OSU bench. I'm sure they feared for there lives.

My favorite post: "Wisky, never liked Bo Ryan, very smug"

Most despised Big 10

My vote would go to Illinois fans. A program that has a ton of talent most years, excellent tradition, but usually underachieves when the tournament comes around. Yet being around their fans they act like they're Duke or UNC or Kentucky or Kansas, which they're not.

If you attend a Big Ten Tournament, whether it be in Indy or Chicago, I'd be willing to bet you'll leave the arena with the impression Illini fans are easily the most arrogant of the 11 schools.

As a native Illinoisan, it's just in our nature;). They are going to be real good in the next couple of years if everyone sticks around.

I hate Bucky. Period.

I got the same impression from their message boards before and during the first half of this season.

I don't see that any more.

Mostly I dislike Ohio State. Ever since they decided to scab "The" on the front of their title. Who am I going to get them confused with? The Bobcats? Cincy? Toledo? My pet peeve. I feel better now. Whew.

tGH...."the GopherHole" is the best of all of the "unofficial" College Support Blogs and/or Websites. GO GOPHERS AND GO GOPHERHOLE!!!!!!!!!

IU hands down. They are completely annoying. My freshmen year here at Purdue(07-08) was the first time my dad and I went to the BTT. I had been ragging my family about how horrible IU fans were all year and with the standard response being "oh they aren't that bad, you are just being irrational." Anyway that was the year that the ref's almost game away a quarterfinal game to IU with about about 2 HORRENDOUS foul calls with under 10 seconds to go. The Hoosier's missed most of there free throws during that short stretch putting them up one. Then Travis Busch took the all out of bound with about 3.2 to go and tossed it 75 feet which tailed perfectly to Blake, who made the winning shot as time expired. The entire place exploded. My point is that every IU fan around us was completely fine with the way the ref's almost gave the game away, on our way out my dad said "You are right about IU fans they are that annoying."

After IU, I hate O$U. I will admit it's completely irrational but I can't put into words how much I hate the school. It might be the fact that there fans they think O$U is Gods gift to earth, or the fact they don't give a $h!t about there really good basketball team, or the fact that Matta couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag, or the fact that the same wet paper bag has a more personality than the Sweater Vest, or the fact that when athletes leave for the pro's they have to take a pay cut.

IU Tops On My List (Obviously)

But Wisky is a close second. Many of their fans are "over the top" in my experience.

I had never heard of the Luke Witte incident until now ... that was bad. Between that brawl and the Haskins-era I can see how someone would unfairly write-off our program as despisable. The constant scrutiny of the last year doesn't help either (Royce, Devoe, Mbakwe).

We'll beat your @$$ on and off the court. Poor taste joke?

Not as bad as Mississippi State's players fighting each other in the stands.

#1 Wisconsin-because.

#2 Iowa-see #1

#3 OSU-I can't stand Matta, by far my least-favorite coach in the conference. And their fan base is generally arrogant, though more so in football.

Don't genuinely dislike anyone else, though I can muster it for Indiana.

Living with Ohio State fans, it is annoying hearing them lord their athletic superiority over me as a Minnesota fan. Honestly, when I heard about the Terelle Pryor incident and selling his Sportsmanship Award or whatever, I was ecstatic. My brother also thinks OSU is just God's gift to collegiate athletics and that they are infallible, so seeing that made me happy, and I will be equally ecstatic if we beat them today.

I also don't like them that much as a basketball program lately. Last year's team would have been nothing without Evan Turner. It wasn't even a team, it was Evan Turner and those 4 other guys on the floor, they went 3-3 or something while Turner was out. I'll admit this year's team is a little more well-rounded, Lighty is a very good player, as is Diebler, but all the talk is about their freshman one-and-done superstar Jared Sullinger. And then in 07-08 I think when they went to the national title game, they had what, 3 or 4 one-and-done players on that team? (Although I did enjoy seeing OSU lose both the football and basketball national titles to Florida that year.) It's like Kentucky almost, although not quite as bad; how can you even be a Kentucky fan when your team has an entirely different set of players every year? I just don't like how Thad Matta relies on racking up the stars in recruiting. He doesn't have to be a good coach if he just brings in the superstar players, not to mention how pissed he seems to get at the officials sometimes. Oh yeah, and the whole "THE Ohio State" thing just strikes me as arrogant.

I also had to laugh when someone pointed out that Ralph might have pushed Shurna. (Did he? The announcers didn't seem to think so, but KFAN did, my Ohio State fan father made sure to point that out.) It was funny because Ohio State probably would have suffered their first loss at the hands of Northwestern if Shurna had played.

Wisconsin, while a rival, I have respect for; Bo Ryan is a good coach, although the rage he also can get into during games is offputting to say the least.

One person on the Ohio State thread posted by the OP said he disliked Purdue because of the way their fans boo the officials. While watching Minnesota at Purdue not too long ago, I noticed the same thing. Generally, I have no ill will toward Purdue, and would have loved to see them make a Final Four run last year or this year, and was genuinely disappointed when I heard Hummel was going to be out again this year. The trio of Johnson, Moore, and Hummel was great, and they deserved to make a deep tourney run, and it's too bad they didn't. Anyway, while watching Minnesota play Purdue this year, I couldn't help but notice the same thing: the fans jeer the officials on EVERY. SINGLE. CALL. I swear, JaJuan Johnson could have punched Colton Iverson in the face, and they would expect Colt to get called for a blocking foul (although for the things Colt gets called for, I would be half expecting it myself).

#1 MSU, for personal reasons.

#2 Wisconsin, Bo Ryan.

#3 aOSU, obnoxious and ignorant fans.

Wisconsin. It's Wisconsin. Never want them to succeed in anything.

1. Wisconsin and their arrogant fans - even the Wisconsin kids who attend the U, half of them retain their red and white colors (what school are you at again, fools/pricks?). Wisconsin people believe all sports originated in 1993.

2. OSU and their arrogant school and fans - pretty soon they might as well admit to being NFL and NBA franchises. There really needs to be a salary cap in college sports.

I'm a Wisconsin fan and I unequivocally agree that anyone who attends one major conference school and roots for another is not a true sports fan. I know a guy at work who grew up near Madison and went to Minnesota and hates the Badgers and I respect him for it.

Wisconsin easily #1, OSU easily #2. Significant dropoff after that. Iowa is too terrible to hate.

I can't believe you didn't rank OSU #1. OSU is #1 in the Big Ten in everything :p

It's kind of strange, because I don't really 'despise' any Big Ten basketball teams. I dislike Wisconsin because they're Wisconsin, and because the style of ball that Bo Ryan has that team play makes watching paint drying about seem exciting by comparison, but I don't hate them with a white-hot hatred like I do Becky football. And as someone else in the thread noted, Iowa basketball is just too damn inept to even consider hating. And I root for all B10 teams in the B10-ACC Challenge and all B10 teams that make the NCAA tournament, so long as none of them are playing us.

It's in football where my feelings get really passionate so far as dislike goes, like I cannot STAND the Iowee and Sconnie football programs.

I met a Minnesota grad in 1985 who brought this game up, not knowing I was an Ohio State fan, and proclaimed how he was there and it was hilarious. A fistfight almost ensued. This is the Minnesota metality. Now maybe if there was closure I wouldn't feel so strongly. But I do, so eff em.

Really? That is the Minnesota mentality? I've always heard we're too nice....interesting.

Minnesota for permitting and then not condemning it violent, racist, unprovoked attack on the Bucks.

Unprovoked my A$$!!!

I agree on Minnesota. That attack on Luke Witte and the team was never properly apologized for or atoned. And it has been swept under the rug in B10 and college basketball history.

We're really sorry OSU ... How's that? Proper enough for you?

I still think Wisky is the worst though.
