Such a potpourri from which to choose!

Is UL-Monroe any good? How many of these teams have a shot to win their respective conference for an automatic bid?

I'd expect UL-Monroe to be decent and have a shot at an auto bid. Return 6 of their top 8 scorers and had a nice season (14-6) in the Sun Belt. SDSU is usually decent, but they couldn't beat the Gophers even when they had a stud like Wolters.

If the Gophers' 42-game non-conference home winning streak (2nd behind Duke) is to end this season, Clemson and UL-Monroe are the only ones I'd give a chance. For sure Kansas City, Omaha, Chicago State, and probably USD are likely to suck.

Oklahoma State

Then Clemson

This is a ridiculous post/question. The non conference schedule is a complete joke! I am not excited for any of the games even the Clemson game does nothing for me. As a season ticket holder I am embarrassed by this schedule. I enjoying watching good basketball and I don't see any of these games as being a good game. Once again we as ticket holders have been taken advantage of. I cant image that these games mean anything to anyone. They wont test the Gophers ability as a team and the wins against these teams will mean nothing to the NCAA when picking a team for the tourney even if we do well in the Big ten season. A JOKE!

for me it is actually the Minnesota State Southwest Marshall or however that school is named now, but that is just because i know a player and know of their coach. after that, the rest are all a tie for 2nd.
for all of the complaining about how bad the home schedule is over the years, it never gets any better so i save my angst for other things. And looking at the RPIs for everyone else in the conference, we are about middle of the pack, so someone else must have it worse somewhere.

Awful schedule. I agree that this is a stupid discussion. If they are going to gouge on tickets, they better come up with something better than this.

Just went through the non-conference schedules for some of B1G contemporaries Michigan State, Purdue, and Wisconsin all have notably better home schedules than the Gophers while Michigan, Iowa, and Maryland all have similar schedules (one high major on their home court). It doesn't seem like it should be that difficult to get two home games (including one of the challenge games) against high majors every year.

I voted Nebraska-Omaha. Hopefully Mr. Basketball, JT Gibson will get good minutes. We will see quite a few MN kids in the non conference. 4 from SD. 2 from SDSU. 3 from UN-O. 1 from UW-M.

We do have a few decent games on the schedule just not home games. The Oklahoma state game is a good game, Temple is good and if we win that then anyone else who we play in that tournament. Our home schedule is bad but the overall schedule isn't that bad.

I agree totally.

All of them .. Can't wait to check out all the new roster changes. Good schedule for the some many new guys on the team. Big ten doesn't have any cupcakes this year so we need lots of success early.

+1

They have the 7 ranked NC SOS in the B1G. So it is in line with most other schools. Just accept that fact and enjoy the building of the team.

Hey, I wish the NFL didn't have as many meaningless preseason games, but that is how they do it so we all still watch games with players that won't even be in the NFL.

Let's remember that Wolters didn't play his senior year at Minnesota... out with injury.

The results of that game greatly skewed the squad's advanced statistics... kenpom and such don't adjust for such injuries...

I'd love to see Clemson, but just discovered I'll be out of town. Here's hoping for a better home schedule next year!

Honestly, I've been pretty busy working my ass off to pay for my season tickets. This is the first moment Ive had to really take a look at the schedule. Since we have complained every year about the schedule I can imagine that it is useless and meaningless to complain yet again, however, this schedule makes me regret all my complaints of the past because it has perhaps rendered my perspective of the present meaningless. But! This schedule: Awful.
The only thing left to do is pray for El Nino and a warm November and December.

This home NCS is the basketball program's most blatant statement to date that it will no longer even pretend to care about its season ticket holders. The game in SD is to get T. Denny to write a big check to the campaign. They almost deserve to have him turn them down.
