If everyone showed up this Saturday night and got behind this team?

The tragedy will be the sea of maroon and gold heading down the aisles and through the horseshoe late in the 3rd quarter realizing they were fooled into believing in something that wasn't true and having to witness it without any 3.2 available to numb their senses.

akgopher

I didn't expect the "Debbie downer" to come out so quickly. I assume since you already know the result, you will be donating your tickets.

I'm actually kind of finding humor in this because of how mouthy the coach was coming in. He set himself up for this. I didn't care for Mason personally, but a part of me thought he was as good as we were going to get at the time. Maybe TCF creates a window where we might have an opportunity to elevate to a Wisconsin or Iowa, but it won't happen with this regime. I was fine with canning Mason solely on the basis that he burned bridges with boosters, HS football coaches in state, etc- but not based on performance. If those parties thought he was a jack-ass and needed to go in order to make the private share of funds to pay for TCF or to keep kids from going to Iowa and Wisconsin, fine. But the current guy showed absolutely no humility and probably will find a way to pin his failures on Patrick Reusse and might actually believe himself.

If people truly show up in force and get behind the team, I think we will see a nice win next Saturday. The last thing this team needs is their own fans giving them grief after two tough losses. Even if you hate Brew, when you come to the game, you gotta support those players giving it their all out there.

Seriously, it's people like you that drive me nuts. While I'm frustrated with where we currently sit, I was more frustrated with the last couple of years with Mason. That felt like a road to nowhere.

Brewster never came in and said Rosebowl now. Why do so many people take it that way. Alvarez went into WI and said Rosebowl, proceeded to have a few very, very crappy years while building a talent base and then went to the Rosebowl.

I'm not saying Brewster will get us there, but he never said he'd have us there immediately. This Minnesota BS of having to wallow in self-pity or be viewed as a self-promoting loudmouth is ridiculous.

I appreciate the vision and hope. Without it you get nowhere. Also, I think he has toned down the "tremendous" things, has been willing to respond to questions, and doesn't sugarcoat it when they play bad. Again, I don't know if he'll get us there or not, but wishing him, and te program, ill will because he has stated a vision for the future - not now - is stupid.

Totally agree. I will be there. I will support the team. I will cheer them on. If we win, I will be happy, but surprised, but I will not turn my back on the Gopher football players.

It will not be a tragedy to support this team. The tragedy will be how, once again this team will be under prepared, under coached, and set up to fail by the coaching staff.

Here's hoping the boys can rise above the handicap and beat Michigan State. If we can expect the same from MSU that we expect from our own coaching staff, they left everything on the field last night and we can waltz to a 55-0 victory on Saturday.

That seemed to be an acceptable excuse from many of the Brewster faithful last year.

All in too.

Regardless of who's coaching this team or who's leading us under center - they'll get my full support.

We all knew going into this season that the PSU and OSU back-to-back games on the road might end up this way. Let's move on and beat MSU this week and get back to 0.500 in conference.

Cali - not the kind of post Id normally make, but your sarcasm got the best of me. That being said, I do apologize.

It's not up to me who coaches so I show up, cheer for 60 minutes and then, either way, go get drunk. It's a pretty simple formula.

This is a truly novel approach that I have never done (for the past 2 weekends). I think I'll give it a try again this Saturday.

I'll be there cheering loudly. Taking my dad, it's his first Gopher game.

Umm yes he did. That's exactly what he said. Need we look up the quotes from his press conference? I actually think he still needs to be given more time, so I wouldn't extend nor fire him, but he does have a propensity for opening his trap too much. But that's who he is. We'd be saying the same thing if we had hired Kiffin...

Here looked it up for you. From his opening press conference:

“Our expectation is to win a Big Ten Championship now. We’re not interested in any rebuilding process. I’m very fortunate that I’m not coming into a situation that is decimated where there are no players. There are players here. Glen Mason did an excellent job at this university and coached these kids well. They’ve won a lot of games. They’re not void of talent, so we’re in a little different situation here than it is at most places that are going through the hiring process. I’m very excited that it’s not a complete rebuilding process."
