We'll for sure crack the Top 25. I say 22 in one poll and 23 in the other.

I would rather we remain unranked and continuously be the underdog..

But Stan and I are rank. :cool02:

Which ranked teams are dropping out to make room? A&M, maybe Okl St? UCLA will get in before us, possibly LSU as well. Unless you think we jump over some currently ranked teams that also won?

It's more likely in the Coach's Poll. We'll move ahead of A&M for sure. We'll also probably move ahead of the loser of Stanford and Arizona St. So then we need one of these three things to happen:

1. Nebraska loses to NW
2. LSU loses to Kentucky
3. Oklahoma St. drops far enough (not likely they fall that far)

The winner of LSU-Kentucky will probably be ranked.

I think that maybe, if we beat Illinois, we might be ranked. The national consensus is that the B1G is weak, other than MSU, OSU, and NE. We'll have to be 7-1, or 8-1 before we get ranked, and will quickly fall out of the rankings with a loss.

I say 26 this week. I hope we squeak in after Illinois or over the bye week.

Yeah i dont think we are there yet, which is completely fine.
We got something that is building very organically and that is awesome.

I don't think we will be ranked next week but we will after the Illinois game and then we'll probably climb another spot or 2 during the bye week. Last year Michigan State wasn't ranked until week 10 either.

The longer we remain unranked, the longer we have that "Bert Bulimia-sized" chip on our shoulder.

I am fine with them not being ranked, but if we are 7-1 and then win four in a row, that would make for a helluva fast rise to a top five, top ten team.

Seems like a lot of teams not playing

Assuming we win the Illinois game I'd prefer to go into Pig Week unranked. Chip on the shoulder for the squad and extra motivation to blast Iowa.

Not ranked this week. The win does not look at all impressive and there's not enough teams ahead of us that lost

Should be # 26 or 27 in the coaches poll. Texas A&M and Stanford/ASU loser will drop out, but I wouldn't be surprised if a team behind us (maybe LSU or Kentucky) jump us.

Threads like this one drive me nuts. A lot of people want the gophers to continually get respect, get on ESPN, get ranked, not get "disrespected", etc. who cares about all that? Enjoy the wins. It's really nice to see good things coming from the program. The other things will come in due time. As minnesota gophers fans, some higher standards will come internally. We are beating teams we should beat. It would be nice to beat michigan, Ohio state and Wisconsin once every three times we play them instead of once a decade. That's when the national respect comes.
