Where was our normal announcer?

Yeah, I thought he was rather poor.
 



Not very classy to be doing the "WHOOOO" after a penalty AND down by 10+pts.
 


The Who was piped in. The regular guy stinks. Liked the guy today. Hope he is the guy next year.
 

Today's PA guy was Bruce Cusick who has held that position with the Vikings since 2004 and for the Swarm lacrosse team since 2009. I like the regular guy, but thought Cusick did well and was better today than he usually is for the Vikings since the nature of college football enabled him to play more of a low key role in comparison to Vikes games where the script requires him to push the team and the sponsors in a more upfront manner.

You can't be serious. No way you thought of Beth when you saw the word "normal." I think you're confusing "normal" with "regular."

He was awesome. He didn't think he was Bruce buffer and I thought the energy in the stadium was excellent, despite the tiny crowd. Almost as if we don't need someone to shout at us with a lisp all game.

Saturday's announcer was the Vikings announcer, but it wasn't Bruce Cusick. Saturday's announcer was Jim Carroll, who does the Vikings PA with Bruce. I'm a good friend of Bruce, and know Jim as well, and it was definitely Jim.
 



I missed our regular announcer. As for lifeless, where was the band and piped-in music at the start of the second half? Talk about flat. The lack of band and PA took the crowd right out of the game for a good chunk.
 

I liked Saturday's PA guy just fine. Hats off to the band for playing well during the chilly conditions!

Thanks for the correction. I just recognized the voice from Vikings games, but never knew the name until looking it up. Cusick's name appeared, but not Carroll, so I went with it.
 

This guy was much better. The regular guy is terrible. Speaking of terrible, Paul Allen is the worst play by play announcer in the country.

I couldn't agree more. Paul Allen bugs me so much. It's a good thing I watch on TV.
 



So no one knows then? 22 posts in and no one has any idea if the regular was just sick or whatever?

I don't really like the usual announcer. I'm sure he's a great guy and all, there's just something about him that I can't even really put my finger on. The constant over-the-PA commercials don't help me like him, either, though that's certainly no fault of his.
