And as the days pass, where is coverage of Trevor Mbakwe and the young women who cannot be found and there will be no charges. You again were overly eager to label this young man, convict him in the press. Were is the coverage, retraction, and appology.


Royce White also has a claim of trial by the press. So far, nothing. oooh a computer stolen in a dorm and he had been in the dorm.

It has been a couple weeks or more and the silence is deafening.

Has there been some movement on the Mbakwe front? You say the woman cannot be found and they are going to drop the charges?

She apparently moved. It's a little premature to say she can't be found. The specualation is that the case is very flimsy and that the result of the pretrial will result in the prosecution dropping the case. The combination of the news has created speculation that the case will be dropped sooner. But so far all guess work.

With an uncooperative victim, the prosecution isn't going to go too far out on a limb. Too bad I have to get this second hand from a premium recruiting site rumor mill instead of the newspaper.

If there is a link where I can see this info for free, someone please post it. I suspect, though, there is no such link.

CP, the concept is that when the Star and Sickle outs, supposedly, anyone that is anywhere near an offense of any type, they should report that person is exonerated of any wrong doing to clear their name. Sam's outing was on at least C1 but I doubt you'll see any retraction anywhere. That's what the problem is.
The retraction is not nearly as visible as the original sentational story, weak as it was.

Charges will be dropped by 01/01/10 if not before.

Sure can. If you are going to report it, report the whole story, not just the accusations. If they are going to run with Sam Maresh being involved in a bar fight, then you better come back with the corrected report that he was a witness to a bar fight with the same volume you reported the accusation.

Tend to disagree. He has been practicing with the team and I think he'll be ready to go. I think we really need him. My issue with the Mbakwe deal is that it is allegedly mistaken identity. That is not the same as saying you were there but are innocent (a la Dominic Jones, et al.) Whatever.

You have to watch it a little bit, maybe, because it may be good news for us as Gopher fans but not so good news for the victim or her family. Not trying to be pollyannaish but it might be one of those silent fist pump type deals.

Hey Buck. You guys did a nice job with the recruiting data using rivals rr values and weighting the classes (senior - freshmen), could you update that to reflect the finished Big Ten Schedule.

I've done it and it's quite illuminating but you guys lay it out so much better, although I bet my formula is better!!

It'd be cool if you could post a link if and when you update it.
