WOW! Last night just blew me away. This team was FIRED UP for this game.

Williams, Mbakwe, Coleman, Dre all were all running on a higher level.

After watching the Gophers/Hoosiers game in Bloomington, IN, I was very suspect about the game at The Barn. Zellers was getting away with everything in Indiana, so I was glad to see that he fouled out last night. I think that freed up both Rodney and Trevor to do so much more on the court.

Now how do we keep this team at this level of performance?

That early loose-ball foul on Zeller set the pace. We all looked at each other after that one and sort of said, four to go.

They were fired up as well they should have been. Indiana is actually a nice matchup for us because they like to have pace to their game. Our guys tend to lock up and lose a little energy in the slow paced games. The exception was the 2nd half of the Wisconsin game here where they did turn up the defensive pressure.

Very true.

The Big Ten grind can get to a team

Answer: They were getting caught up in the grind of playing in (arguably) the best and most well-coached conference in the country. It sometimes happens to good teams in major conferences.

Hopefully after last night we figured out a few things and carry it over into the last 3 games and beyond. That's why I suspect seeing someone from another conference in the NCAA tourney will be such a relief for the Gophers that they'll play much more free & easy.

They need to stay that fired up against slower paced teams. And if they play that well against the zone again, we might just have a chance at doing something this year. I swear, watching Dre and Elliason break down that zone brought back some hope. That said, other teams run a better zone.
