I'm not sure the Gophers are any better or any worse than last year so I'll say 2-6 or 3-5 (8th or 9th)
I will say that we have 4 non-conference games and I wouldn't call the Gophers a clear favorite it any of them. Though, now that Dasher is out they should be the clear favorite in the opener.
Best case, IMO, they go 2-2 non-conference.
I think the Gophers have a shot at beating NW,Ill,Purdue and Michigan State. Chances are that they don't win all 4 of them. I see them going 2-2 or 3-1 there.
So 4-8 maybe 5-7 overall, IMO.
It's a sad state when we can't count on wins at Northern Illinois, SD and Middle Tennessee.

I'm not following your logic. You think we will go 2-1 against NI, SD, MTSU, when 2 of 3 are at home, and then think it is possible to go 3-1 in the B10 against MSU, NW, Purdue, and Ill when 3 of 4 are on the road? I know the gap between BCS and non-BCS is closer than ever, but this is asinine. If we're good enough to go 3-1 against the B10 schools, we should likely go 3-0 outside of USC in the non-conference schedule. If we go 2-1 against NI, SD, MTSU, then 1-3 against the 4 B10 schools mentioned is very likely. Barring fluke game upsets, I have a hard time calling a 4-5 win season. I'm not saying it is impossible, but if you look at a computer ranking and compare it with our opponents, there could be a larger than usual number of upsets, going either way... Our toughest games in the non-con are at home, and the easiest are away. Who knows how that will play.
This actually highlights a big issue with our schedule - due to the home and away variances and quality of opponent, there could be very little difference between a Gopher squad that goes 3-9 and one that goes 6-6. Even the difference between 6-6 and 9-3 could be pretty subtle, though I don't think we're in that range... hope I'm wrong.
Speak for yourself. I fully expect a win tomorrow and against SD.
NI is a decent team, better than SD and SD gave us a heck of a run last year...
...and SD obviously has had sucess against us.
Sound research backing up sound analysis.
This is a textbook example of "Garbage In - Garbage Out".
SD gave us a heck of a run last year
SD obviously has had sucess against us
So a team like SD only losing to a Big Ten team by 3 points wouldn't count as a success?
There's no way a team like SD should be that close to a Big Ten team.
