Have they ever gone an entire season without ranking a player? We've had Veazie for about 8 months and he sitll is unranked, along with four more of our commits. Granted, the two new JC guys may be new on the radar, but they both garnered several BCS offers before committing here.

My understanding is that Rivals has a new policy that they will not give a rating until they have seen video. Now, they have had video on Veazie and Lewis for a while now and have not finished rating them but that is a separate issue.

That's what I thought too. Oh well.

Did Lewis just get rated? I just looked at Rivals and he is now a 3* 5.6.

That being said, what do you all think the other three will be rated?

My thoughts with little to go off of other than offers, height, weight, and speed.

Eure 3* 5.7
Thornton 3* 5.6
Veazie 2* 5.4

Veazie is a tough one. If the 4.4 speed is true, you would think that he would have offers from more schools. Perhaps schools backed off with the early commitment to the Gophers, or perhaps he is lacking in other areas. Regardless, it would be great if all three would jump up to 3* (or better).

HA! Lewis must have been ranked just after I posted this. Nice catch.

those seem like good guesses GB.

i hope they hurry. Once they get ranked our average stars jumps to 3.0 or better. it'll get rid of the "yeah butts".

On another note it's interesting that Greens ranking didn't have much impact. Maybe they haven't adjusted for it yet.

The average of 2.5 is based on all 24 with 4 zeroes.

If you take out the 3 guys who are not ranked, our star average is 3. I would guess all those guys will be 3 stars, maybe one 2 star. Add a 4 star (or even a 5 star :D), the average would be above 3.

yes, i thought that was a clear derivitive of what I said, thanks for clarifying.

ESPN (which is again allowing free viewing of commit lists) has Veazie as a 3* 75, which puts him pretty much in the middle of the Gophers recruits. We have not heard much about him with the June commitment and the lack of other offers. The ESPN free evaluation is encouraging:

Veazie is not going to blow you away with measurables on paper but he is a very savvy and versatile cornerback prospect who plays with good technique and simply knows how to find the football and make plays in coverage. Maybe sliding under the radar at this time.

Nice, good to hear...he did commit awful early so that could definitely have something to do with the fewer offers.

Always add about .15 to their 40 times.

How many commits have we had that reported 4.4 speed? A good number. How many commits actually had 4.4 speed? Maroney. Maybe Stoudamire. That's about it. Players with legitimate 4.4 speed are a prized commodity and almost never fall through the cracks. Look at Wegher at Iowa--a much-touted recruit out of SoDak with supposedly 4.4 speed. Lol.

I saw some clips of Veazie either at Scout or Rivals (think it was Scout) early in the year and he looked good in the clips. Small, but not afraid to lay the lumber to receivers. Plus, he's coming from a very good Texas high school program.

Are you going to like the players any more or less after they are ranked? What if they took at guy that was a 3 star and made him a 2 star. Would you think anything less of him as a player? The coaching staff thought these kids were good enough to play at Minnesota. What more do you need?

No it just feels good to get the confirmation that we are out recruiting Wisconsin.

Right, I forgot that the "recruiting" trophy case is full over at the U. It is the damn "game on the field" trophy case that is empty.

Its Tuesday, no need to be so mad.

No, I don't think fans' opinions on players will change that much. Just interesting to see where they get rated. We're fans, we have a long break between games so why is it a big deal to you? I guarantee there would be wisconsin fans wondering about players that are unranked as well.

Not mad at all. Highly entertained.

And here I was hoping to get some more depth chart information about the upcoming season. Sorry I made you defensive about being so mad.

Schnoodler would be happy to lose 6 more games in a row to Wisconsin if the Goph's rivals ranking was higher during that span. It's all that matters in college football nowadays... (just because he loves dots as well)

Wow, did GV put up the skunk symbol?

Now it is like anger management group coming over to GH to post. Let's slooooow it down a little.

Remember these days. It's all that will be left soon. Just memories of Barry's glory.

Wisconsin's recruiting rankings:

2008 - 5th in the Big Ten
2009 - 7th in the Big Ten
2010 - 9th in the Big Ten

If this trend continues, Wisky will be dead last in recruiting next year. :D

The Badgers have "cooled" on recruiting!
