Looks like "The Bank" comes in at number four in terms of how much it cost to build (which surprises me a bit). I've only been to three stadiums on this list, and I sort of like the Bank the best out of those three. The site lines are certainly the best. My favorite overall is Texas (they certainly win in the "great food" category).

And in D-III, I became a fan of Carleton's stadium a year ago when I was driving by and there happened to be a game, so I swung in to watch them play.

And one more, Allianz is great stadium for soccer. The best I've been to in the U.S., with Wembly in London being the best overall.

Rose Bowl by a mile for me, and I don’t see that changing. A packed Bank as the sun sets over the downtown skyline is a great second, though!

Montana also has an awesome FCS stadium, that’s a bucket list item for me

Been to Cal and ASU, but in the old configurations. Rose Bowl was wonderful and kind of a dump at the same time. You had to be there.

I miss the time when I bought 5 tickets on the 50 yard line at Evanston on StubHub and paid $48. Total. Fees included.

For me the Rose Bowl was sort of like when you go to a movie that everyone says is great - best ever, and you come out thinking it was really solid but not quite great. It just didn't quite live up to what were my high expectations. Same for Michigan and Notre Dame stadiums.

BTW, if you like old-style stadiums, Duluth has a pretty interesting baseball park for their minor league team.

Any idea on their cost calculation? Seemed high. A quick Google search says 288.5M

Hate OSU, but the Horseshoe is the most imposing stadium I have been to. As big as the Big House and the Rose Bowl are, they feel genteel compared to the Horseshoe. And after suffering through the Metrodome, Gopher fans deserved a place as nice as the Bank.

We are blessed with many great arenas/stadiums here. Target Center is really the only bad one and it's functional.

On game days, Montana’s stadium holds enough people for it to be as populated as the seventh largest town in the entire state. I was there for the FCS semifinals two years ago and that place was rocking.

I have family in Pasadena and have been down for games on a good number of occasions, so I admit I'm a bit biased haha. Tons of amazing memories, with Gopher fans packing the place up this last season for the UCLA game being a recent addition.

Neyland at night is amazing.

The tailgating and atmosphere at College Station before and during A&M games is awesome.

I still have Baton Rogue for an LSU night game on my bucket list.

I am going to go with Northwestern though. But that's because I have never seen the Gophers lose there.

I haven’t been to a ton of college stadiums, especially any in the South, but I have been to the meccas of the north: Michigan, Ohio State and Notre Dame. Of those, the Big House was my favorite, but that might be because I was there for the Ohio State game in 2021 when they finally broke their losing streak. It was an incredibly electric atmosphere and so much fun, from pregame tailgating to postgame field storming with my Michigan buddy. It was everything college football should be.

I am going to use this thread to vent the way local joes go on social media and come up with their “ranking every B1G Stadium” lists. They usually have only been to a couple of them but “rank” them all with entirely suspect criteria. Some of them base 95% of their ranking on capacity, taking zero thought on fan comfort, concessions, bathrooms, etc. Others base their rankings on atmosphere with no consideration of things like Nebraska’s ridiculous configuration with most seats in the end zones. That stadium is awful with everyone sitting in nosebleed end zone seats but it always ranks high because they sell it out (wink) all the time and they had some good years there 30 years ago.

As a Duck I'm partcial to Autzen. Not a bad seat in the house, lots of energy, loud and you feel like you're right on the field. The fans bring it and believe they are an influencing factor in the game's outcome.

One other one as a Duck, Husky Stadium is one of the most beautiful settings for a stadium, excellent stadium. Of course Husky Stadium could be greatly improved by removing all the purple and gold.

Plus I believe Minn is coming for a little visit later this year, Nov 15th. Should be good weather that time of year, if you're coming for the game let me know. I'm more that willing to share insights that might make you're visit more enjoyable.

For awhile I was doing a good job of catching 1 or 2 road games every year. But then kids came along and now we have fall baseball. THus I haven't traveled for a road game since 2018. Yikes.

But this also means a lot of my list are for stadiums that have undergone extensive renovations since I last visited. Anyway, here is my list:

1. Minnesota....I mean duh. But seriously, the sightlines are perfect, the view is nice, the open-end is a unique feature and the exterior is great. When the place is full, it's a fun environment.

2. Ohio State (2002)...It definitely is an imposing venue. The fans were a mix of rude/arrogant and friendly.

3. Penn State (2003, 2009)...The stadium itself is an erector set and wasn't anything special but the fans were extremely into it and the tailgating scene was the best. Also the fans were overall the nicest. In 2009 the game was a day after a major snowstorm blew threw so it closed down all the grass lots. We were invited by a local crew to join their party in a surface lot (permit only). Great time.

4. Illinois (2003, 2016, 2018)...One of the most underrated venues. Great exterior, good tailgating, easy in/out after the game. They don't really fill it up but the fans will leave you alone. I like Memorial Stadium.

5. Iowa (2001, 2009, 2012)...I have had extreme experiences at Kinnick. In 2001 we met the most foul-mouthed idiots and I nearly got in a fight with someone who called my fiancee a derogatory word. I'm absolutely not a fighter or a hot-head but that triggered me and it was absolutely my worst experience ever. Fast forward to 09 and 12 and I attended with an Iowa friend of mine who had season tix. (My wife has sworn that she will never attend another game down there) My experience with an Iowa fan who is pretty imposing himself made it alot of fun. Their fans are sooooo into the game. It's impressive how loud they can get.

6. Michigan (2004)....the Big House is nothing like this anymore. When I went it was well before all their add-ons and was largely just a hole in the ground surrounded by porta-johns. I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. Add in the fact that each "seat" is about 9 inches wide and it was an uncomfortable seating experience. Tailgating scene was good though and the fans were friendly enough.

7. Indiana (2007)....I also think this is underrated . The tailgating potential was there as the stadium was completely surrounded by parking. This was Brewster's first year though so the game was not competitive and since Indiana wasn't that great either the atmosphere was rather bland. I'd like to go back though and see the changes.

8. Wisconsin (2000, 2002, 2004)....Fans were atrocious and every game was a frustrating experience as the team got obliterated in the trenches by the Badgers. In 2000 and 2002 we gave up 31 and 28 points in the 2nd half respectively. In 2004 the game was over by halftime. I hate losing to Wisconsin so much that I just haven't had much of a desire to return. Watching the Gophers win at Camp Randall on TV is fun enough I guess.

9. Purdue (2008)...Nothing special. This trip is rated low because we were staying with family about an hour north and left our kids with them. Thus it was really a quick drive just for the game and I didn't get a chance to really take in any pre/post game stuff. It's really hard for me to remember much of that game other than we won and this was before the Brewster wheels came off.

10. Northwestern (2009, 2017)....absolute dump of a stadium. Only positive is that the walk from Lake Michigan to Ryan Field was enjoyable on a fall day. The 2017 game was terrible weather though. I brought my 7 year-old and the rain/snow and the fact we were getting blanked caused us to leave at halftime. I drove him back to the Dells and let him play at a waterpark instead.

Honorable Mention:
Colorado State (2015)....Beautiful setting on the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The tailgating scene was pretty fun too.

Arizona State (2006....Insight Bowl)....Nice stadium. We had our kids in tow with us and they were 2 years and 6 months at the time.....so I couldn't really enjoy the ambiance. All I remember is swearing a lot under my breath as we walked out of the stadium.

My bucket list college stadium oddly enough, is the Sun Bowl in El Paso.

Never been to the bank unfortunately.

My top stadiums:
1. Husky Stadium. That lake view is awesome.
2. Virginia Tech. The whole Enter Sandman thing is just awesome!
3. Notre Dame. It just exudes history and the fans don’t sit ever!
4. Minnesota. When we sing “Minnesota Hail to Thee”, awesome!
5. West Virginia. Tough to beat closing it down to “Country Roads” before heading to the parking lot!

Love "The Bank" as our home stadium and it's such a clean stadium with great site lines for the game. Here's my top 5 from where I've seen the Gophers play.

1. Folsom Field - Colorado Buffalos. Beautiful campus and stadium. Fun atmosphere, Boulder is great and Ralphie doesn't disappoint.

2. Memorial Stadium - Nebraska. I mean it's packed with dedicated fans who are fun to tailgate with, talk football and hang out after the game for more shenanigans.

3. Big House - Michigan. Have this slightly higher than The Shoe just based upon tailgate scene in Ann Arbor is better.

4. The Shoe - Ohio State. Huge, historic and the block parties outside the stadium are a blast. I just prefere old school tailgating with bags, grills and porta potties a little more.

5. Rose Bowl - UCLA. I'm sure if I was there for an actual Rose Bowl game this would be #1. But since it was a middle season showdown against a UCLA team who was just starting to play well the atmosphere wasn't great. The views, weather and history were top notch though.

Honorable Mention: Kinnick - Iowa (needs remodel/updated), Campbell Randall - Wisconsin (tailgate is awesome but fans are overly drunk) and Ross Ade Stadium - Purdue (fun stadium, fields to tailgate in)
