We all heard how Trevor was a beast and some said Royce was the best player during practice last year, and at least the Trevor report turned out to be true.

Whats the word on Oto, anyone hear how he's holding up in practice? We let Noreen go to Huggy and we saw some potential last night from him. Time will tell if we played the right card.

Has he been redshirted or is he ineligible for some reason? If he is ineligible, what will it take before he will be eligible again?

He had trouble getting cleared and they eventually concluded that they would allow him to practice, but not to play in games yet. He is effectively being redshirted.

No idea how he is looking in practice.

With such a successful team on the court now, we have no need to talk about the "what ifs" of practice players. Given the early success of recruits many thought would not be able to compete, I am going to place my bets on Oto being able to play and contribute-Next year. Until then, no worries.

Widely reported on this board that the Clearinghouse won't let Oto play this year; he will be considered a redshirt. I would also like to know what he looks like in practice.

All I can speak on is what I saw at the scrimmage (which I realize doesn't say a lot) but he looked pretty good to me. Didn't really see him take too many jump shots or handle the ball a lot, but he looks pretty athletic. Almost like a Northwestern/Wisconsin type player, but with a bit more athleticism. At one point during the scrimmage he was calling for an alley-oop for whatever that is worth. He looked pretty smooth on the court.

I am also intrigued by Halvorson, who is sitting his transfer year. I think his addition will be interesting.

Its nice to be able to redshirt and wait on a few of these guys rather than throw them to the Wolves right away (Oto, Elliott, Halvorsen).

I got the same impression at the scrimmage-- Oto looked like a player. Didn't force things that weren't there but took advantage of what was.

Saw Halvorson play at HP last summer-- he can run and jump. An occasional spectacular play followed by 3 or 4 minutes of looking lost

Oto

Not sure if he can play but the guy is the best dressed Gopher I have ever seen. He has the flashy suits in D-1.
