I really thought he'd come out and have a much bigger contribution than he's having so far this season. He missed an awful lay-up late in the game where he looked scared to go up strong. He's averaging 2 points a game in our first six games. Certainly plenty of time for him to get going and I'm sure he will, but he's definitely not playing like a senior right now.

His shot's off, and when his shot's off, he's off. He's definitely a confidence player. When he's not feeling it, he blows layups, free throws, and throws the ball away. When he is feeling it, he's a very valuable player. Let's just hope he gets it together soon.

He's slow. Not going to be effective against athletic man to man D's. He can be a zone buster and hopefully be able to knock down some FT's in tight games (although he had some issues with that last year)

Dr. Don, Internet mall cop, said no more bitching, so what's the deal with your post, sir?!?

Not sure why he can't knock down open jump shots this year, but the rest of his game still suffers from his lack of quickness and athleticism. His game calls to mind Adam Boone and Shane Schilling in their slow-footedness.

Julian is really strugling right now. His ball handling and decision making has been very poor. He has no confidence at all right now. He air balled a lay-up from under the basket today. Maverick used to scare me every time he took the court. Maverick is out playing Julian by a mile right now.

When his shot comes back he will be a serviceable breather for Andre. We need him to drain the open 3 and make his layups. I don't know why he's struggling so much.

I really think Julian would do better if he got some time at backup pg instead of always playing sg. He's too short and slow to get his shot off against sgs. He's best when he's dribbling around screens and hitting shots.

I'm way more concerned with Coleman. He's a turnover machine. 21 in 6 games. I'd rather see Welch in than him right now. I think Welch's shot will come around if he ever gets some consistent minutes.

Long, long way to go. Patience. Welch will be fine; he'll be a significant contributor before this season is over.

Welch played well last year, he'll play well this year. My concern is when or if The Beast will get back to 100%.

Welch isn't athletic enough to take Coleman's time at small forward.

You are probably the only one that would rather see Welch out there over Coleman....Big Mo almost moves faster than Welch :)

Not true, I second that notion at times you simply cannot have Coleman out there. When teams press Coleman is a very poor ball handler and has a very difficult time going left, is a turnover machine. 3.5 TOs from your 4th or 5th offensive option is awful. Also when teams zone Welch is going to shoot it better he was 5th in 3PT percentage last season in the Big Ten. I think it boils down to a bigger problem, and that is having a big serviceable back up wing. We simply do not have one. Oto is way over matched and cannot dribble or be a release against a press. That is why I wouldn't be so sure that Wally is going to red shirt. If I see we have no bench wing that can play I am sure Tubby sees the same thing. Oto should not be playing right now, I watched Wally play a lot in high school while he is no Tiny Archibald I am confident that he is a better ball handler (and shooter) for that matter than Oto. We know Tubby is going to play 10 and I would rather see Wally in there than what I have seen from Oto in his 1+ seasons.

Too many twinkles for Julian this off-season

Kind of hard to come down on just Coleman for turnovers, when the whole team is a turnover machine. Coleman produces way more offense and attacks the hoop. Welch hangs out around the perimeter acting like hes running in cement.

Dont take my defending of Coleman as giving him a pass on his turnovers. He is a little wild at times, BUT this team is much better with him out there than Welch.

I guess my larger point was I would rather have Welch out there against a zone. Although like I said the turnovers make it more alarming because he cannot handle the ball consistently and he is asked to, he gets a lot of them on passes. If he gets them going to the basket I am ok with that. I just worry that if he gets into foul trouble in a game and the other team has a big physical wing I really don't want to see Oto out there, I would rather see Wally out there. If he can get back in another week or two like is he suppose to and can help more than Oto I have no problem lifting the red shirt if he can contribute 8-12 minutes during the conference season.

Completely disagree. Welch can spread the floor, Coleman is another lane clogger for Rodney and Trevor. You don't need a short 3 attacking the basket all the time. He needs to be able to spread the floor, shoot, and open up space for Rodney and Trevor. No one guarding Coleman respects his shot, thus his guy sags and clogs the lane. Why do you think Plumlee had such a good game. All our players had to stay with the shooters.

Show me where I bitched, dogbreath.

Mall cop needs to keep a better log book.

Maybe you better get back out to west acres and police the litterers. Better that than some bumpkin from BF Fargo clogging up the Gopherhole with annoying bad jokes and admontions to people for conversing on a conversation board. And I'm only one of many who thinks so.

Welch is another "ball handler" when the Tigers were going to be pressing. Also is more capable of knocking down a jumper than Coleman. I was fine with the decision to play him down the stretch.

C'mon Bad. I bitch about the commentors who bitch about a kid who helped us win a game. Do these anonymous commentors have a clue?

Absolutely agree. I remember one possession today where Coleman made a lazy pass that was nearly stolen, got the ball back and made another poor pass that was nearly stolen, and then made another pass that finally was stolen.

Amen.

He's just got to stop the stupid fouls and play better team D. His offense will come. We will need his shooting in the B1G.
