is if the Gophers do hire a legitimate A list candidate and all the other names are simply the smokescreen of someone appointed to hide what they are doing. I wonder what this board would look like if true. It is not out of the question.

I've completely tempered my expectations but part of me still believes something like this is going to take place.

Do have to be realistic in a sense. I do believe a number on this board do not give the U enough credit though. I think it is a better place both potential and with the current situation then is realized.

Given all the apparent smokescreens (Horton's words), they have to be doing something good behind it all.

I hope you're correct. I'm still holding out hope for Bellotti. But Mullen would make me happy as well. On the plus side someone like Doogie, who has spouted an unending supply of baseless speculation has lost any credibility he once had.

I think this is totally going to happen. I have said so from the beginning.

Doogie's just reporting what he's hearing. Perhaps he could be a bit more selective about sources, but that's not the way the journalism game is played now. It's all about speculation first, analysis later. I think he does a good job on both fronts.

Don't blame the playa. Blame the game. Can't believe that me, a 57-year-old whitest of white guys just referred to Doogie as a "playa." Though that he is.

You might want to lighten up on Doogie a little. He is basically passing out what he hears from others at the U. He does not make it up. He also for the most part just shares it for what its worth. A forum where he is simply being one of the posters is a lot different then ESPN1500 or an opinion piece in the startrib.
