Red Line - What they should do.
Orange Line - What I think they will do.

All because they believe Michigan is so much better than Wisconsin. You have to go back eight years to get to a point where Michigan has more cumulative conference wins than Wisconsin. Of course they both had different coaches then....

I don't know... I think the Orange line is EXACTLY what they should do. Just read my explanation in my other posts, which outlines that exact alignment.

Personally, I think the orange line is the best of the non geographical ideas. But yea, the red line is still the best for everything not tied to what the TV people want.

I think it's more likely that they flip Minnesota and Illinois in the orange line setup. That would make the NW/ILL and give Wisconsin somebody from the western half of the division to play against and not leave them on an island. It also doesn't sacrifice the holy grail of "competitive equality" since Illinois and Minnesota are almost equal.

The Red Line Is So Sensible, So Right, So Pefect

. . . that it has absolutely ZERO chance, in all likelihood. My God, the gerrymandering taking place the bowels of the Big Ten offices to chase the Almighty Dollar is stunning.

Think looooong term, folks.

My son finds it hard to believe that 25 years ago, 3 of the most feared teams in MLB were: the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Kansas City Royals, and the Baltimore Orioles.

What the Big 10 Big Wigs are thinking:

1. The big four; MI, OSU, NE & PSU must be split 2 & 2 - not sure if they really are the top 4.
2. The next two IA & WI must then also be split.
3, That leaves the remaining 6 teams to be divided up according to percieved strength and rivalries - and maybe a small chance of geography.
