What role is Eric Kaler playing in the final stages?

Does anyone know if Eric Kaler is in town or is he back in NYC finishing out the year? I would have to imagine that the final one or two HC candidates would want to meet Kaler, look him in the eye, get a sense for his commitment to football, etc.

We usually don't find out how it "all went down" until a few days after the official press conference, but I'll be curious to hear if Kaler was involved in the final stage, not for an "approval" from him, but just so the new HC can meet him.

I would expect that the new coach will get to meet him or at a minimum get a vidio conference with him. I wouldn't take the job if I couldn't meet my bosses boss.
