What Percentage of TCF Stadium will emit Badger Stench next Saturday?

5% - most of the red we’ll see are TC residents who now have showers.

A few thoughts:
1) I cannot ever remember seeing so many empty seats at camp randall as I saw on TV yesterday;
2) We heard earlier this week that the wisconsin ticket office returned 600-700 tickets. I have no idea of how this compared to other wisconsin years or to other teams return numbers, but it did surprise me.
3) With the holiday weekend, I am guessing some Gophers fans give away their tickets to coworkers, friends, etc. or sell their tickets - and some of these find their way into badger hands. Not this year.
4) There are very few "unwanted" tickets floating around - which may have been the case in years prior.
Having said all that, as someone who has been to at least nine home Ax games, I would guess around 6,000 (12%). I remember years in the Metrodome, where that number was more like 35-40%. That sucked!
I hope the crowd is as loud/louder than the PSU game.

I'm guessing in the 10-15% range. Enough to be annoying, but not enough to be a real issue to our home-field advantage.

I would think the Gophers 2-game lead just a couple weeks ago would have kept WI fans from buying tickets at that point thinking the game might not be important enough.

It's Thanksgiving weekend so many plans are already made by now, so I doubt many are going to change plans at this point to buy some expensive tickets just for a right to re-match OSU.

I would have to think for Badger fans, their exhilaration for competing at this level has waned some. This is not a special year for WI up to this point. Also, very unlikely Wisconsinites spend the $$$ for tickets at a Gopher game which are more expensive than Packers tickets.

The nice thing about our high ticket prices is it keeps out the riff-raff.

This will be the smallest contingent of badger fans for any axe game yet at TCF. Something like 5-8%. Won’t be noticeably higher than the contingent Penn State brought.

It should be noted that Saturday was opening day of Wisconsin's 9-day deer hunting season. There was LOTS of blaze orange on the road, headed north, Friday night to the cabin in Hayward.

Also...consider the opponent...and forecast.

This is a commuter campus, holiday weekend...I suspect enough red to be noticeable. My kid isn't going. Should be a helluva game.

We need "Gold Paint Snipers". People that hide behind columns and walls to throw buckets of gold paint on anything and anybody wearing red. Then throw a snowball at 'em.

Visiting teams get 2500 tickets. Minus returned plus Budgies that came to Minnesota to get jobs = maybe 3000.

I hope there is some red in my section. I think having opposing fans around helps add to the fun of being at the game.

Commuter campus...? You clearly haven't been on campus in, like, at least 15 years.

I’m on campus weekly dropping stuff off for my kid. Even with discounted student ticket prices, very few of the kids on my kids dorm floor attend games...they go home...or simply choose to do something else.

Same is true for many my former students.

Your experience may be different.

Regardless of how many Badger fans are in the stands, the ones that are on the game will encounter something they probably haven't seen before: Energized, involved, rowdy Gopher fans - the kind of fans that were at the Penn State game.

Minnesota fans are notoriously bandwagon, and many sit on their hands under normal circumstances. But when there is blood in the water, when a local team steps up to take its place among contenders, Minnesota fans show a remarkable ability to step up and appear as though they are long-term passionate crazies. The Penn State game was an obvious example and it will be the same or even more pronounced on Saturday.

Game conditions can dictate this, of course. If Wisconsin gets out to an early lead and their defense removes reasons for hope, the fans could return to their quiet roots. But, if the Gophers score early and maintain a good level of play in a game that they are leading, or is close, look out.

You said it's a "commuter campus" and then, when challenged on that out-dated characterization, you cited the apathy of your son and the people in his dorm (spoiler alert--the kids living in the dorms aren't commuters) as support for your position. Student apathy has been a concern, but a large percentage of the students live on or very near campus.
