Andre H-PG
Austin H-SG
Rodney-SF
Trevor-PF
Mo W-C

Second id like to see
Welch-PG
Andre H-SG
Joe C-SF
Trevor-PF
Sampson-C
1st team=Probably gets a crap load of steals, blocks, rebounds, and just overall hard to score on.
2nd team=I feel could light it up on offense, while not giving up much on Defense

I am interested in seeing where Elliot and Oto fit.

The other thing that has my interest is which guards will make the bigs better by getting them in position and being able to feed them so they can finish at the rim.

Andre, Welch, Oto, Mo, and Mbakwe would be a line up that could shoot at a high percentage while rebounding well.

Elliot might be our most athletic center
Andre, Joe, Rodney, Mbakwe, and Elliot could get up and down the court with some pace

The best bet for the starting lineup would be C-Sampson PF-Trevor SF Williams OG-Austin Hollins PGWelch. That excites me if Rodney steps up in his junior year.

I agree with you except that their is no true point guard in your lineup. I know it is a long shot, but what if Maverick could become that point guard.

I don't think anybody right now is gonna be able to be that "true point guard". Id be surprised if it's not Welch starting at the 1 come next season and its sounds like Tubby has told him those are the plans. My hope is he doesn't take that as an automatic though, but comes in and earns that spot as the clear #1. Same goes for Andre and Mav. I also see it as Welch, Austin H, Williams, Mbakwe, and Sampson to start. A second lineup of Mav, Andre/Coleman, Oto/Chip, Ingram, Walker/EE coming off the bench. Whatever it may be, I like the depth of this squad!!

Much better depth but instead of Ingram another guard would have seemed more logical.Tubby said in his interviews after the season he wouldn't get caught short at point guard again.I think he still is a guard short evidently he thinks Maverik can play.

Oto will take Rodney's minutes unless he improves a lot.

Not sure what lineup excites me, but I will be anxious to see if Oto is the shooter we need to replace Blake. The only recruit I've seen enough of to get a good feel for his game is Andre Hollins. I've only seen YouTube highlights of the rest of the guys.

Welch- Nice stats at a JUCO that is not in one of the tougher leagues, his own coach has said he's not a point guard. Can he play in the Big Ten? His coach said something like he was as good going to the basket as anyone he'd ever seen at that level.

Andre Hollins- Clearly is athletic and can shoot, but has a long way to go to transition to point guard.

Joe Coleman- Athletic, and by all reports is ready to play defense at the Big Ten level. The concern is his jumper and where he fits in offensively

Andre Ingram- Athletic, but looks a little undersized at the 4. Only been playing competitive ball for 3 years and, like Welch, did not have the greatest programs offering him scholarships.

Elliott Eliason- Tubby sung his praises at the end of the year, can he score effectively in the post next year?

Mo Walker- How will he bounce back from the knee? This was a kid who needed a lot of strength and conditioning work before hurting his knee.

Oto Osenieks- Tubby called him "probably" are best shooter outside of Blake late last year. The "probably" part concerns me as there didn't appear to be much of a race for that 2nd spot. I believe it's been reported that Oto is more of a 3 than a 4, but he's another guy who we don't know what to expect from.

I am excited to see these 7 guys to find out just what our squad will look like next year. I am certainly not willing to call this team "deep" until I see most of these guys play well in Big Ten games.

I'm excited to see if we have much improvement in our wings (R.Williams, and Hollins) and what Joe Coleman and Andre Hollins bring to the team. I didn't think point guard was the biggest issue last year (Although it was obviously a huge issue), I think the fact that we haven't seen development in the 3-point shooting outside of Hoff. If we improve in that area and have a decent point I think we will be competitive in a weak big ten next year.

PG Welch, Andre Hollins
SG Austin Hollins, Joe Coleman, Andre Hollins (plays both)
SF Oto, Austin Hollins (plays both), Joe Coleman (plays both), Chip, Rodney,
PF Mbakwe, Walker, Ingram
C Walker, Elliasson, Sampson
Lots of flexibility with this group for blending skills. IF the guard play improves a lot, which I believe it will, they could be pretty good.
I have listed Rodney fifth, but if he gets his butt in gear, he may be playing second. Terrific waste of potential, but potential is one of the most over rated things in sports. He has the potential to go from a disappointment to irrelevant, or to brilliant just depending on whether he gets serious about fundamentals (the Pulley league does not count for this). His fundamentals suck, and he will not get many minutes next season (I hope)with this year's skills. I hope he improves a lot, but he is an offense killer with the skills he brought this year.
I have not predicted much playing time for Chip, and that could be a big mistake if he can develop a reliable jump shot and improve defensively. He is a really good athlete and could be a very good player. He is aggressive on offense and is the only guy who has Westbrook like tendencies to try to score no matter what is going on.
Just my opinion. I think there is a big opportunity to be a much better team next year. The fact Welch and Andre Hollins are good students increases the odds a lot that they can adapt and will worry about the right stuff.

Tubby- "We’re thinking about going to a two-guard offense instead. But it’s hard to do in the middle of the season. You don’t have to enter the ball to the wing, you just pass it to [a player such as] Rodney [Williams] up top, play a high-post type offense. We’re going to dabble in some of that as well to take some of the pressure off the point guard."

So Andre Hollins, who's more of a combo guard, can play point guard for you next season?

"He’s done it. I’ve watched him now. He’ll be effective at it."

Making some assumptions because I haven't seen any of the new guys play, but initially I'd guess we'll see Welch, Austin Hollins, Williams, Mbakwe and Sampson start.

Would make me feel better about our 2011-12 prospects if early in the season we see instant & significant improvement/assertiveness from Williams and Sampson. It's time for Rodney & Ralph to become something more than serviceable Big Ten players. We need more from 'em, and we need it night in & night out.

Unless we see a change in Rodney the idea of starting our offense by passing it to him on the high post is a not a good scenario to me. This is the guy who stood and looked around the court as though he wished he didn't have the ball in his hands last year. I would think you want to get the ball in the hands of a player that moves it quickly with purpose. They tried this with Iverson last year afte Nolen was gone and it wasn't pretty. Granted, Iverson is in a different world athletically than Rodney so that's a plus.

We'de probably be better served if we didn't place too much reliance on the unknowns. Most of the posters on this thread seem to expect Andre to step right up and contribute big. His stats from the "Classic" that he he is in aren't as nearly as spectacular as his HS stats. That performance may be more indicative of what we can expect to see from him in D1 ball.

Andre is an unselfish player. Those type of players rarely score very many points in an all-star game. I didn't watch it, but I'd be willing to bet that shots were taken after less than 2 passes almost every possession.

To base what he will do in college from one all star game is silly.

I bet andre took no more than 5 shots the entire game, and just played basketball.

What? Do you mean to say that those of us who are experts can't tell talent when we see it immediately from one game? Or from reading the results from a box score? Unbelievable attitude.
