What grade would you give the B10 Officials in the CSU game?
 

Not very smooth. However during non conference games there are many subs from the Missouri Valley and MAC, mixed crews, working the games.

The play in OT was an interception, not a fumble. They didn't bother overturning the call even though it was wrong. That was mighty strange to me...
 


I was sitting in a CSU section, and boy did they complains and moan a lot about the reffing.

They were average today, below average last week, and have been below average for at least 3 years now. I'd say last year they were barely above atrocious.

Calls were tough both ways. The block in the back where Murray hit the punt returner was tough. Hands to the face were tough. Face masks were missed in CSU's favor. This will happen when judgement is part of the game.

These refs were like the 1927 Yankees compared to those from last week.
 









The phantom PI on AJ almost cost us the game, while several muggings of KJ were ignored. As disappointed as I was in our offense in the first half, the crew completely dominated the game and it was impossible to get any rhythm. After the game, I think they all put on really large shoes, red noses, piled into the same VW Beetle and drove off to circus music.
 

They ought to red shirt some of the refs. Non-conference games are their preseason games too. I believe they review all the game tapes after each game to evaluate each ref and help them improve.

With all the enormous pressures to win, the refs are all under the microscope. They are the thirteenth man after the fans. Unlucky thirteen that is to a team who loses a game due to a bad call at the key moment.
 

The PI call at the end of the game was just shocking. Do refs have their game calls evaluated by someone later reviewing tape?

Wow you were posting what I was writing at the same time. Do college refs get evaluated in this manner?
 

I was at the game sitting 12 rows up. I'm 43 years old and started playing football in jr. High and through college and officiated after college. I've never seen a worse officiated game than that to my recollection. Embarrassing for the Big Ten. They didn't even know where to spot the ball at times. The amount of times they had to huddle was ridiculous. Let's just hope they had a really bad day for some reason. There were a few blatant missed calls right in front of them that I couldn't believe we're missed that went both ways.

Refs get graded on every play. Every year a few MIAC officials get a shot at Missouri Valley Games. They get graded and possibly get invited to more activities the next year. When Big Ten teams play FCS or MAC teams a number of officials are prospects. The head ref is likely someone the conference is looking to promote to head ref. a few years back when MN played a MAC team at the dome, nearly the whole crew was a mix of MN officials from the MVC, MAC, BIG TEN.

Are we sure they were Big Ten officials? I thought they said Pac 12.....oh well.

They really need to brush up on their PI calls. Horrible on those. They also had more huddles than the Gophers.

Meanwhile, all is good cause we didn't have Beth and Joey.

My grade would be somewhere between an F-Sharp and a G-flat.

And no, it was not sweet music to my ears.
 

They were bad. The game lasted over 4 hours (I think). These guys just could not get out of their own way.
