What about Trestman if Brewster gets canned.

What about Mike Hohensee? He's flying under the radar in this hypothetical coaching search.

Gophs - you should send your suggestion to Sid Hartman. I think he's recommended Marc Trestman for every college and NFL head coach opening for the past several years, if not longer.

If we're going to start speculating on Brew's replacements before spring practice even starts ... well, okay. But can we keep it to realistic choices? Chris Peterson ain't coming. Gary Patterson already turned us down once. We should wait until Mark Richt is fired before worrying about whether he would consider us. Pat Fitzgerald isn't leaving one Big Ten team -- his alma mater -- to come here.

The most likely choices are likely to be people most of us have never heard of. That's just the way it is for a program like ours.

these kind of threads are getting old and ridiculous. Our favorite team is getting ready for spring ball and preparing for hopefully what will be a great season. Why can't we just support and encourage Brew and our Gophs. Coach Brew is not getting fired so let's just do what we can to help him.

He just signed an extension and speculating on who our coach should be in 3 years......even if Brew is gone, is stupid.

What about Cory Sauter?
What about Brian Cupito?
What about Billy Billy Billy?
What about Tony?
What about Sandy?

Honestly, does anyone remember when Ron Simmons announced that "I have received word that the new gopher football coach is Minnesota's own, Mark Trestman" That had to be my favorite instance of bad reporting of all time.

What about Billy Billy Billy?

He hasn't been the same since Danny Noonan one upped his big putt with an even bigger one. Plus he's overrated. He's been riding Judge Smails coattails for years.

I say since we're playing hypothetical with no reason, I say we dig up the grave of Vince Lombardi, get a sample of Belichick's hair, some spit from Chuck Noll, a picture of Bernie Bierman, one of Knute Rockne's old shoes, mix em up in a blender, pour them on the keyboard, call up that Gary kid from the movie "Weird Science" (not his candy a$$ friend Wyatt) and see if we can't just build ourselves a football coach. Oh, and if we can make it look like Heidi Klum circa 1998, that would be great. Start engraving that Conference Championship trophy!

How about Paul Lapolice?

Seriously, if you are looking for CFL people Kent Austin, now Offensive coordinator at Mississippi and former Saskatchewan head coach is a guy I would take a look at.

Of course I think Brewster will be here for years so this is all moot.

Maybe if a program hasn't won for 40+ years it is time to stop hiring from within

By the time Brew is let go, Pete Carroll will be fired by Seattle, will come here and then look out!!!!!!!!!

I'm just throwing it out there, and I'm not meaning to grind anyone's gears. This isn't meant to throw Brewster under the bus. I'm behind Brewster, but anything can happen and Maturi isn't afraid to fire a coach after an extension. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

I'm just impressed with Trestman's credentials. The fact that he's a former Gopher just adds to my curiosity.

what about

Vince Lombardi, Jesus Christ, God, Red Buttons, Snoopy, snoop dog, Sylvester the cat, John Wayne, Denny Hecker, Prince, Bud grant, carrot top, you.

It's so nice to be supportive of our players and coaches right before spring practice begins. That's the old school spirit.

Now back to the thread - does anyone who thinks Brewster will get fired before the first game want to back it up with some money? If not how about we focus on football.

First of all, Dumb post, we are not in the market for a new coach for at least 2 more years.

Second of all, Trestman would be a terrible hire, He is not Big Ten coaching material, he may not even be MAC coaching material or maybe even MIAC. He is a very good position coach and offensive mind but I do not see him as a collegiate Head Coach. (the CFL is barely above Arena Football which is 1 step up from street ball)

If we go the Canada route, I say we get Don Cherry. We'd be a smashmouth team a-gain! Plus, imagine the threads on this board with Coach Cherry picking the uniforms! Don is one of my all time favorites.

Am I the only one that would love to see Denny Green lead the Gophers to the Rose Bowl? It's a no brainer considering the stellar job he did with the California Redwoods in the UFL.

Is it too soon to consider who we should hire if Brewster's successor gets canned?:)

Maybe we should hire co-head coaches, to oversee the co-coordinators.

Vince Lombardi, Jesus Christ, God, Red Buttons, Snoopy, snoop dog, Sylvester the cat, John Wayne, Denny Hecker, Prince, Bud grant, carrot top, you.

Could Denny Hecker get work release? Would he give the "next T. Pryor" a new corvette? If so, he has my vote.

If Brewster's successor's successor's sucessor gets canned, then I go for Tony Mortenson. He is a local kid and he did a fantastic job of holding the clipboard for an all time great in Cupito. He had an instrumental hand in Cupitos progression as a record setting QB.

Why don't we just start planning for the next stadium after we tear down TCF in about 150 years.
