I'm not sure how (and I haven't paid attention to them) but Indiana is rated lower than us. So we're only the 2nd worst BCS team in the country. The good news, we can't get much worse. I would assume the Big Ten schedule will at least help us move up 10-15 spots. One rating system does have us at 118 out of 120 teams...

You can't make this stuff up. We were never rated quite that low last year. Yet, somehow, amid all the turmoil with Kill, and the seizures, the new "system", and the new discipline, the new strength and conditioning, and the lack of a recruiting strategy, we are only 2 spots from the very bottom (whichever rating service). The purpose of hiring a new coaching staff was to improve the current team, not future teams. So, the question remains how this is to be done with this staff. It is very clear that they do not in any way, form or fashion fit the University of Minnesota's needs by showing us the very bottom of the ratings. It matters not that we are 101 or 120. 4 games in and we should have seen real improvement or the hire is a failure. Next year will not be better as the team will be thinner along the offensive line than this year in terms of experience and ability, as we will graduate 3 senior starters and will replace them with red-shirts or sophomores. The defensive line will also graduate players and will replace them with smaller, less athletic talent. So, the long term perspective is not brighter, but dimmer. It is futile to suggest more wins next year as the 2nd string is not competitive enough to push the starters out, even when they have turned in mediocre performance on the field so far this year. So, if a person were to ask if it can get worse in Gopher football, the answer is yes.

How many times do you need to be called an idiot by people on this board before you stop posting? The purpose of hiring a new coach is not and was not to improve the current team only. The purpose of hiring a new coach was to turn the program around and point them in the right direction and keep them going in that direction in the FUTURE. Which by the way, in some aspects of the game they are (our running offense, run defense, points against, and punting). Kill said right from the start that this is not an over night fix and it will take some time. 4 games are you kidding me, that is like saying GM after filing for bankruptcy should have been able to come out of it in a month and be the number one selling automaker in the world again. A complete rebuild takes way more than 4 damn games.

I have used cbssportsline.com for their rankings for the top 120 schools for the past 5 years, they have us at 83 out of 120. Under Brewster we were lower than that multiple times, we were in the 100s at many times. There are 7 teams on their list that have 0 wins, so we aren't only 2 spots from the worst team in football because we at least have a win.

I kinda get the feeling that you are mixed up and think the Gophers play in the NFL where they can pick up free agents and trade for guys.
