Welcome to the big leagues Grand Canyon University Antelopes

That makes it a third new hoops program to D-I next season, joining Abilene Christian and Incarnate Word. Any chance the Gophers will schedule any of these three in 2013-14?

The WAC and the Big East appear to be the biggest losers in the conference realignment shuffle. What a memorable stay it was for Denver in the WAC, this season only.

Still gotta' believe North Dakota State, South Dakota, and South Dakota State eventually are going to bolt the Summit to join former NCC members North Dakota and Northern Colorado in the Big Sky. Big Sky is a solid conference, with strong FCS football, and they certainly fit geographically.

Grand Canyon University is a for-profit school, almost like a University of Phoenix joining D1. This smells.

ive said it before and i'll say it again, when you play incarnate word in basketball you throw the records out the window and just play ball because anything can happen.

If I own shares of the University (traded as LOPE on the Nasdaq,) would I be considered a booster??

At this point I think it is far more likely UND joins the Summit which is basically becoming an I-29 conference with NDSU, SDSU, USD, Nebraska-Omaha and UMKC. Now they have a hockey rival in Denver in the conference as well. I could see the league adding UND and perhaps a MN DII if they are will to drop football.

I think our coaches would hate it as well, they don't really recruit the Big Sky footprint and the travel would be brutal. The only way NDSU joins a far flung league is if the school wants to go FBS for football.
