Welch was great tonight. 15 points, played smart, made the big free throws. Have to laugh at all the guys who continued to say that he isn't a D-1 tallent.

Then Eliason has his best game and steps up when we don't have many options with Trevor and Ralph out. Poor guy played great and there have been many complaining that he shouldn't be on a d'1 roster either.

Won't even go into Chip who has taken shots from a few posters too...Chip provided some good minutes and 9 tough points tonight.

Tubby did a great job coaching. Hats off to the entire team tonight. Beat Virginia Tech with three players out. Including our two best players.

Welch looks to have a good midrange shot. That little pull up 8-10 footer.

Welch is a complete player. nice shot, great defender. just needs to cut down on his turnovers, but he was was clutch tonight. I'm glad we got him late. Might be Tubby's best late signing ever.

Yeah, just sad that only two games into his Gopher career there were some posters already writing him off. He did a great job tonight, but we all know he will have his tough nights too in big ten play.

For as much crap as GW took for the Trevor thing, gotta give him credit on his thoughts about welch.

RSIII would be great for us.

Hate to say it but they played fast and moved well tonight. Ralph could slow then down.

He's actually quicker than EE, so if they can run with EE they can run with RSIII

Depends on if Tubby tries to play them together or one at a time. Playing them together would certainly slow things down. Hopefully we'll keep a smaller lineup. Really like the way Rodney played at the 4.

GW is right about Welch. He is not impressive to watch but he makes plays and is clutch. He can shoot it and is crafty. As Hollins gets better running things Welch could be a very nice scoring 2 guard. They pair well.

Are you kidding - Ralph quicker then EE? Did you have a stopwatch out or something? EE moves around the paint and up/down the floor faster then Ralph who is usually trailing the play.

EE trails the play too. But Ralph definitely moves quicker, EE just reacts faster.

We can go around on this all night. Its only EE first true start but everything just seemed faster/quicker with him in there tonight.

"Great win tonight...Theres no feeling like having the gopher fans behind you at home. Now its time to get ready for USC" - Julian Welch status on Facebook.

Part of me thinks that if Ralph was playing, we would've lost this game.

Great game by Welch. He did not have one minute at the point though. He was always on the wing with Dre and Mav at the point.

I would like to see him at the point more. IMO he was our best PG in the Old Spice.

With Welch and Dre on the floor at the same time you could label them:

1 pt guard, 1 2guard
2 combo guards
2 point guards

Just sayin

this team will be much stronger with Sampson and Eliason.....just not on the floor at the same time.

My favorite 2-man combo to watch is Welch and Chip. They seem to look for each other, move well without the ball and create some nice combination plays.

The only problem is Chip has a hard time matching up those two round orange objects.
