per the Detroit News:
Angelique S. Chengelis: Both teams were off last week, and both are coming off losses. The Gophers will be without their coach, Jerry Kill, who retired Wednesday, and likely will be an emotional bunch. But Michigan is out to prove it’s over the tough loss to Michigan State. Michigan 35-10
Matt Charboneau: It’s the first chance for the Wolverines to get back on the field after the crushing loss to Michigan State, and they’ll be doing it against a team dealing with the news its coach — Jerry Kill — has retired because of health concerns. There’s no doubt emotion will play a big role in this game, but it’s hard to see a scenario where Michigan’s top-rated defense gives up more than just a few points against Minnesota’s lowest-rated offense. Michigan 34-14
Bob Wojnowski: Deciphering emotions isn’t easy, but the theory is, the Wolverines will be angry after losing to the Spartans, and the Gophers will be somber after Jerry Kill resigned. Or maybe they’ll be fired up for their departing coach. Or maybe it won’t matter. Michigan’s defense should shut down inconsistent QB Mitch Leidner, and it shouldn’t take a lot of points to win back the Jug. Michigan 24-9
John Niyo: Minnesota looks like Northwestern, without the run defense. So the Wolverines should find a favorable matchup here. But it’ll be an emotional night for the Gophers, and it’s hard to say how they’ll react. Michigan 27-14
