Week 3 Team of the Week: UConn -- It's gotta' be the Kemba Walker-led Huskies after an impressive championship run at the Maui Invitational. Wins against Wichita State, Michigan State & Kentucky all should look good on the Huskies' resume at the end of the season.

Week 3 Team of the Weak: Texas Tech -- Losses to St. Mary's and South Florida at the South Padre Island Invitational certainly don't bode well for Red Raiders head coach Pat Knight. Granted, there's no shame in losing to St. Mary's, but this program clearly is going nowhere fast.

8. Sam Houston State (1-1)
14. Appalachian State (1-2)

I'm by no means an expert with figuring the RPI and don't feel like examining the numbers, but can someone explain to me how in the world these two teams are as high as they are? I know it's early and these early RPI ratings don't mean much of anything, but this seems absurd to me.

P.S. Is Wake Forest that bad to pick Iowa over them? (Not doubting you SS!) Ouch.

Wake Forest is that bad. They're 3-3 with double digit losses to Stetson and VCU (by 21), and a 9-point loss to Winthrop. Other than VCU, Iowa is the best team they have faced this year so far.

Wake Forest

I've seen Wake Forest twice. The Deacs look every bit as bad as Iowa, worse in my opinion. They've already lost at home to Stetson and Winthrop. Even without Cully Payne, I see no reason why the Hawkeyes can't go to Winston-Salem & grind out a win.

Love these threads...kind of a tough week for the top of the Big Ten though. UConn (aka Kemba Walker) is on fire

Walker

Walker was a man among boys in Maui, and that's saying something considering the competition he faced. It's amazing how much his shot has improved. If my memory hasn't failed me, he pretty much couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from the perimeter lasst season. Fun player to watch.

SS: Why PSU over Maryland? I grant you I have not seen PSU yet, but Maryland didn't look that bad when I've seen them. Is PSU that much better then expected?

PSU-Maryland

I think it's one of the several "either or" games in the Challenge. No reason Penn State shouldn't be able to knock off a solid ACC squad in Happy Valley.

Monday
Minnesota over Virginia (agreed - UVA is TEAR-I-BULL Gophs by 23)

Tuesday
Clemson over Michigan (agreed but if the right Michigan shows up we could steal one)
Illinois over North Carolina (agreed - Illinois by 15+. UNC is not good, almost lost at home to College of Charleston)
Iowa over Wake Forest (agreed - WF is really bad but Iowa is worse)
Northwestern over Georgia Tech (agreed - NU might be undefeated prior to B10 play?)
Ohio State over Florida State (agreed - easy win for OSU as they sweep road games in the sunshine state)

Wednesday
Boston College over Indiana (I'm taking the Hoosiers because this is 1976 all over again :)
Duke over Michigan State (Duke easily by 15. Sparty doesn't click until March)
Penn State over Maryland (I'll take Maryland. PSU has zero home court advantage)
Virginia Tech over Purdue (agreed - VT by 10+ Purdon't is sliding fast)
Wisconsin over NC State (agreed - Becky should win at home)
