Ducks Wire first out of the gate:

14. Minnesota

Game Result: W 48-0 against Rhode Island

Previous Ranking: 14th

AP Poll: N/A

What’s Next?: Nevada

Analysis: After a heart-breaking loss to North Carolina in week one, the Golden Gophers came back strong in week two. Rhode Island isn’t a great team, but a 48-0 win is impressive and should give them some momentum heading into a game against Nevada next week.

Go Gophers!!

Badgers Wire chimes in:

15. Minnesota

Week 2 Result: 48-0 win over Rhode Island

Previous Rank: No. 16 (Up 1)

Analysis: Minnesota bounced back from its Week 1 loss with an all-around win over Rhode Island. The good news: QB Max Brosmer went 24/30 for 271 yards and two touchdowns, looking more like what was expected after he set passing records at the FCS level. Star RB Darius Taylor also returned to the lineup and rushed for 64 yards and a touchdown.

Go Gophers!!

Nittany Lions wire chimes in:

18. Minnesota

Last Week: 18

Week 2 result: Won vs. Rhode Island, 48-0

Minnesota got an easy rebound at home against an FCS opponent after dropping the season opener. But they will have to do a little more than dominate an FCS opponent to prove themselves worthy of moving up these power rankings.

Up Next: vs. Nevada

Not that it matters but I think North Carolina would beat Iowa state

Spartans Wire chimes in:

16. Minnesota

The Golden Gophers picked up a convincing win over FCS foe Rhode Island this week to get its first win of the year. Minnesota should win again with ease next week against Nevada before an important rivalry game against Iowa.

Go Gophers!!

Yahoo Sports chimes in:

15. Minnesota

Record: 1-1

Hi/Lo: 14/15

Change: -

Last game: Win vs. Rhode Island, 48-0

Biggest win: vs. Rhode Island, 48-0

After the late trip up against North Carolina, Minnesota returned to form against an FCS school. Max Brosmer was efficient and electric but the run game has to pick things up in a big way. With another nonconference game coming up against Nevada, we'll see if the Gophers can build upon this one.

Lol.....we get put at 18 after losing a game we could have won to a power 4 team....and get no credit for blowing out a cupcake the way the majority of the conference did in week 1.....yep, seems fair.

SF Gate chimes in:

17. Minnesota

  • Current Record: 1-1 | Projected Record: 1-10
  • Strength of Schedule Rank (FBS): 38th
  • Last Game: W 48-0 vs Rhode Island

Go Gophers!!
Hard to take a "hot take" from someone who apparently thinks that:
  • Oregon, Indiana, Northwestern, Illinois, Nebraska, Michigan State and Wisconsin will only play 10 games this year
  • Washington, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, Iowa, Purdue, Maryland and Minnesota only play 11 games this year
The good news is, USC, UCLA, and Michigan apparently will be allowed to play 12 games this year.

WOO HOO!!!!!
