Right, but the problem is the polls become biased based on the prior week's ranking. So, early season bias translates into end of season success.
Exactly.

The wacked out early season polls have an effect on lots of things and that is why they aren't "meaningless". The SEC has been able to inflate their rankings when rankings actually matter, thanks to their preseason and early season poll placings for years. Plus, being ranked early gets your squad on the most likely televised games and highlight packages - keeping you on the radar for later season rankings.

Yes and no. if you have 3 or more losses rankings mean little. I hate the early season polls as well, but by the end of the year 0-2 losses is where you need to be for a really special season.

Rankings garner attention to games each week.

I know it doesn’t mean sh#t, but I can’t believe the Gophers can’t get a single vote in AP or Coaches Polls. Long term coach, consistent winning records, it’s starting to bug me, especially when you see who is getting votes.

Texas drop looks about right.

Score close, but man Texas ... not a lot of confidence after that first QB throw and not much after that either.
